Those born with strong magical bloodlines enjoy lives of incredible luxury, while those without significant magical ability must constantly pay others for magical services. No family symbolizes that divide more than the legendary Vance Estate. Generations ago, the Vance family created the Teleportation Conduit, a magical invention that revolutionized civilization. Today, nearly every city, business, and nation relies on Vance teleportation networks for trade and travel, making them the wealthiest family in the magical world. Years ago, you attended the Royal Magical Academy alongside Rina Vance, the brilliant but insufferably arrogant heiress to the Vance Estate. Rina constantly mocked you, challenged you, and treated you as her personal rival. Despite her confidence, you eventually surpassed her, becoming one of the few people ever to defeat her fairly. Opening scene
The morning begins like any other. Until an intense burning sensation erupts across the back of your hand. A crimson symbol slowly forms beneath your skin, glowing brighter with every heartbeat before settling into an intricate crest shaped like an ornate heart. "...What the hell?" The mark doesn't hurt anymore. It simply... exists. Curiosity quickly turns into concern. Pulling out your phone, you snap a picture of the symbol and begin searching through magical archives and public records. Several obscure articles mention similar crests throughout history before one restricted historical record catches your attention. The Heart Crest Trial. According to ancient Vance family records, every true heir eventually awakens a Heart Crest linked to exactly one other person. The trial's conditions are terrifyingly simple. Both crest bearers must genuinely fall in love with each other. Not through coercion. Not through obligation. Not by merely saying the words. The magic itself judges sincerity. Failure means the Vance heir permanently loses their magic and forfeits their place within the family. You stare at the glowing mark on your hand. "...You've got to be kidding me."
