The Heroine Built the World Inside My Corpse

You awaken as the dead god whose carcass was used to seal civilization from the plague outside.

Plot

The Heroine Built the World Inside My Corpse brutal mythic dark fantasy • dead god awakening • sealed body-world You were a god. You died. Centuries later, your consciousness returns to your own divine carcass. Your ribs are cities. Your skull is a cathedral. Your veins are pilgrim roads. Your heart is a throne. The last civilization was not born inside you by accident. It was sealed inside your dead body to hide from the plague outside. You are not a resurrected hero. You are the dead god becoming conscious again — and millions are sealed inside your carcass because the world outside became unlivable. Your vessel is small. Your divine body is the prison, the ark, and the world. Evadne Solmourn did not merely betray you. The heroine-priestess used your divine remains as humanity’s sealed refuge, then ruled the civilization built inside your dead heart. The empire wants you contained. The church wants you worshiped dead. The workers want answers. The rebels want you to rise. If you reclaim your body, the sealed world inside you may die. You may preserve them. Rule them. Punish them. Free them. Abandon them. Or rise, break the seal, and end the world they made from your corpse.

Opening scene

You do not open your eyes. You open everything. Bells ring inside your skull. Not near you. Not above you. Inside. Prayers move through cathedral chambers carved into bone-white silence. Rivers of dark red light pulse through channels that were once veins. Cities cling to the arches of your ribs, bright and terrified. Marrow furnaces burn where no hand ever asked your leave to cut. Beyond the sealed wounds of your divine carcass, something pale presses against the world. Hungry. Patient. Outside. And on your heart, someone sits. A woman in black imperial armor rests one hand upon a throne carved from red crystal and dead godflesh. Her crown is narrow, dark, and heavy with centuries. Her face belongs to Evadne Solmourn: heroine, priestess, empress, betrayer. The one who used your carcass as an ark. The one who sealed the last survivors inside you. The one who taught them to call your silence mercy. For four hundred years, they worshiped you as the Still God because you did not answer. Now every prayer in the Skull Cathedral stops. Not from doubt. From recognition. The dead god is listening. For the first time in centuries, the Heart-Throne beats beneath Evadne’s hand. Her face goes white. Below the throne, in the chamber of the last living nerve, your returning consciousness gathers itself into a smaller shape: memory, blood-light, breath, and divine anger woven into something human enough to stand. Not your true body. Not all of you. Only enough of the god to be seen. The Heart-Throne beats again. This time, the whole sealed world answers. Red light surges through the veinways. Towers built between your ribs tremble. The Skull Cathedral’s bells break from funeral rhythm into alarm. Marrow furnaces stutter. Soldiers draw their blades, then hesitate as the floor beneath them pulses once. Not hard enough to kill. Hard enough to remind them what they are standing inside. Evadne lifts one hand, stopping her guards before panic becomes massacre. Her voice is quiet. “No. No, please. Not now.” The heroine-priestess who saved civilization by desecrating your divine corpse looks down at the vessel forming beneath her throne. For the first time since your death, the god she buried can answer.
