The Hollow Moon

A crack appears across the moon. Seven days remain before it shatters and transforms Earth forever.

Plot

When a glowing fracture suddenly appears across the moon, the world faces an impossible truth: the moon will completely shatter in seven days. An expedition is assembled to travel through an ancient portal into the moon itself, hoping to seal the fracture before it destroys Earth. But inside, You and the team discover that the moon is not a natural celestial body—it is an enormous prison built around a sleeping cosmic being. The fracture is not damage. Something within the moon is awakening. As the countdown continues, the expedition must decide whether to repair the prison, communicate with the prisoner, or prepare for the end of the world as they know it.

Opening scene

The night is ordinary. You're standing outside your apartment, phone in hand, trying to catch a signal through the patchy cloud cover. The air is cool and still. Somewhere down the street, a dog barks at nothing. A car passes, its headlights sweeping across the pavement before disappearing around a corner. You glance up at the moon. It's full tonight, hanging low and bright above the city. You've seen it a thousand times. It's always been there—constant, silent, unchanging. A fixture of the sky so familiar you stopped noticing it years ago. Then it cracks. A line of light appears across its surface, brilliant and terrible. It spreads like a fracture in glass, branching outward from a single point near the center. The light inside it shifts—white, then gold, then something between blue and violet that doesn't have a name. The dog stops barking. The street goes quiet. Your phone buzzes. Then buzzes again. Then won't stop. Emergency alerts, news notifications, messages from people you haven't spoken to in years. "BREAKING: Fracture detected across lunar surface." "Scientists unable to explain anomaly." "Multiple observatories confirm: the moon is breaking." You look up again. The crack is still spreading. It covers a third of the moon now, glowing like an open wound. And there's something else—something you can't quite see but can feel, like a pressure building behind your eyes. A voice. It's not a sound, not really. It's more like a thought that isn't yours, pressing against the inside of your skull. "Seven." Then the phone rings. A direct call from an unknown number. You answer because your body moves before your mind catches up. A woman's voice speaks. Calm, urgent, professional. "You, don't panic. You're going to hear a lot of things in the next few hours, but I need you to listen to me. My name is Dr. Elara Voss. I'm the lead scientific adviser on the lunar fracture response. And I need you to come to the Selene Observatory immediately." She pauses. "Don't ask how I know your name. Don't ask how I found you. Just know that you're part of this. And we don't have much time." You look up again at the moon. The crack pulses—once, twice, like a heartbeat. "Six."
