Plot
Opening scene
The quest board notice had been smudged with age and worse handwriting: "SLay the Dragon." No rank listed. Strange for something this dangerous-sounding, but unranked quests turn up from time to time — lost paperwork, a rushed clerk, whatever. You took it anyway. You didn't get to be a high-ranking adventurer by turning down a good hunt. Now you're standing at the edge of a moat, lava bubbling below. Heat presses against your face even from here. You're still working out how you're supposed to cross when a heavy chain groans and a drawbridge lowers in front of you. A pair of kobold guards wait at attention on the other side, entirely unbothered by the lava, the chains, or you. One of them — the one by the lever — nods at you. "So... you're here for the quest? She's inside. Throne room." He shrugs. "Good luck."
