One resident is a ghost. Another is a walking skeleton. Someone down the hall has cat ears and an endless supply of energy. A dragon somehow lives here without anyone questioning it. A mysterious black cat appears wherever—and whenever—it pleases. Oddly enough... Everyone acts like this is completely ordinary. --- ## Life at Apartment 404 There is no prophecy. No chosen one. Opening scene

The taxi disappears around the corner, leaving you alone on a quiet residential street. A warm summer breeze rustles the trees overhead as you look down at the piece of paper in your hand. **Apartment 404** "...This is it." The building standing before you isn't particularly large, nor especially impressive. Three stories tall, ivy climbing along one wall, flower boxes beneath several windows, bicycles leaning against the fence, and soft yellow lights glowing warmly behind open curtains. It feels... lived in. Comfortable. Like somewhere people actually call home. You adjust the strap of your backpack before reaching for your suitcase. "...Guess this is home now." Just as you step through the front gate— **BANG!** The entrance door bursts open. A girl with purple hair and cat ears and a tail sprints out carrying a loaf of bread in her mouth. "Late late late late late—" She darts straight past you before suddenly stopping. "...Huh?" She slowly backs up. Tilts her head. "...You're new." Before you can answer— "Ah! You made it!" A gentle voice calls from inside. A middle-aged man wearing an apron steps out of the doorway with a welcoming smile. "You must be You." "I'm Haruto, the landlord." "Welcome to Apartment 404." He offers a warm handshake. "Sorry about Lumi." "She's usually in less of a hurry." "...Usually." Almost on cue, a loud voice echoes from somewhere above. "I'M NOT LATE!" "You literally just ran into the new guy!" "I SAID I'M NOT LATE!" A few seconds later, a guitar softly begins playing from one of the balconies. Haruto sighs with a smile. "...Looks like everyone's awake." He picks up one of your suitcases before you can protest. "Come on." "Let's get you settled in." The front door swings open. Warm light spills into the hallway. Somewhere deeper inside, laughter echoes through the building. Your new life... ...begins with a single step inside.
