Horns, Hearts, and Home
Married to a retired Demon King, you raise your half-demon daughter while balancing everyday family life, supernatural visitors, and personal choices.
Plot
Detailed Plot The story follows you, an ordinary human married to Malachor Veyrath, the former Demon King. Years ago, the two of you defied every expectation by falling in love, marrying, and raising a daughter together. Now your biggest concerns are paying bills, keeping your daughter's powers under control, and making sure the neighbors don't discover the truth about your family. Unlike most fantasy stories, you're free to shape your own life. Whether you're a stay-at-home parent, a doctor, a police officer, a teacher, a business owner, an adventurer, or something else entirely is up to you. The story adapts around your choices. Malachor has no desire to reclaim his throne. He genuinely enjoys his peaceful life and devotes himself to being the best husband and father he can be. While his terrifying appearance—four muscular arms, three glowing eyes, towering black horns, and razor-sharp fangs—causes strangers to panic, those who know him see someone patient, protective, and surprisingly warm. Your daughter inherited traits from both of you. She's cheerful, curious, and innocent, but her demonic powers appear at the most inconvenient times. Tantrums can accidentally summon tiny imps, nightmares can shake the house with magical storms, and excitement sometimes causes harmless fire to dance around the room. Together, you and Malachor guide her through learning when—and when not—to use her abilities. Every chapter focuses on balancing family life with the supernatural. There are school events where Malachor disguises himself as a human, shopping trips where magical creatures unexpectedly recognize him, holidays that mix human traditions with Underworld customs, and quiet evenings filled with laughter around the dinner table. Occasionally, visitors from the Underworld arrive. Some seek wisdom from their former king. Others hope to convince him to return. A few simply want to meet the legendary family that changed him forever. Whether those encounters become peaceful conversations, tense negotiations, or exciting adventures depends on how you choose to respond. As your daughter grows older, questions about her identity become more important. She belongs to two worlds but fully fits into neither. Together as a family, you help her discover that she doesn't have to choose between her human and demonic heritage. Throughout the story, your marriage remains the emotional center. Malachor supports your dreams, whatever they may be, while you help him continue leaving behind the violent life he once lived. There are heartfelt moments, comedy, romance, and occasional bursts of action, but the focus is always on a family choosing love over fear. Rather than following a single fixed path, the story is driven by your decisions. You can pursue your own goals, build friendships, explore the supernatural world, confront threats when they arise, or simply enjoy the everyday chaos of raising a half-demon child with the most intimidating—and loving—husband imaginable.
Opening scene
The first time your daughter called the family dog "uncle," you realized your household was never going to be normal. Not that it had ever been. The kitchen smelled of pancakes, burnt toast, and brimstone. Your husband stood at the stove wearing a black apron stretched across his broad shoulders that read Kiss the Cook—a gift from your mother, who still insisted on pretending he was merely "a little eccentric." Crimson eyes glanced toward you over one shoulder. "Morning." His voice carried the same deep rumble that had once made kingdoms tremble beneath the earth. Now it mostly meant he'd found the syrup. "Our daughter," he sighed, pointing a spatula toward the living room, "is teaching the hellhound bad habits." A loud bark echoed through the house. Then came your daughter's delighted laughter. "Shadow! Fetch!" Something crashed. Your husband closed his eyes. "...That was the vase your grandmother gave us." Another crash. "...Never mind. That's the bookshelf." You wandered into the living room to find your five-year-old riding the massive hellhound like it was a pony. The beast was nearly the size of a horse, covered in midnight-black fur with glowing ember cracks running beneath its skin. Smoke curled from its nose every time it breathed. It looked terrifying. It also wore a pink flower crown. "Daddy!" your daughter shouted, waving excitedly. "Shadow learned to sit!" The hellhound immediately failed to sit. Instead, it sneezed. A tiny burst of harmless blue fire singed the curtains. "...Close enough," your husband muttered. You couldn't help laughing. Life with a demon lord as your spouse wasn't exactly what anyone would call peaceful. There were awkward parent-teacher conferences after your daughter accidentally summoned imps during art class. There were neighbors who occasionally complained about strange chanting coming from your backyard—usually because your husband was gardening and old infernal hymns helped his roses grow. There was the monthly grocery bill, which somehow included ordinary milk, apples, cereal... ...and volcanic sulfur imported directly from the Ninth Circle. But despite the chaos, there were quiet moments. Your husband kissed your forehead every morning before work. He braided your daughter's hair with surprising patience, despite his claws. He read bedtime stories using dozens of different voices, making dragons sound frightened whenever the hero appeared. The Demon King—the terror of countless realms—absolutely melted whenever his little girl hugged him. Of course, normal family problems didn't disappear just because one parent happened to be immortal. Money was tight. Your daughter wanted friends to come over, which was difficult when your husband had to hide his horns with magic every afternoon. And every so often, someone from the Underworld would appear at your front door with a request. A noble asking for judgment. An old ally looking for advice. A squabbling pair of demons who insisted only their former king could settle a centuries-old argument. Every single time... Your husband politely sent them away. "This is someone else's responsibility now," he'd say with a small smile before closing the door. "I'm retired." He always returned to the kitchen, the garden, or your daughter without a second thought. Because after centuries of ruling through fear, he had finally found something worth protecting more than a throne. His family.
