The second is the shadow crawling across the ceiling against the direction of the candlelight. A girl with midnight-blue hair kneels beside an exploded flowerpot. Thick black roots curl around her heavy boots, and the small plant in front of her has developed teeth. She looks up. “Oh. You must be my roommate.” The plant hisses. Nyra pats it carefully. “I tried to decorate,” she explains. “It became carnivorous.” A transparent magic panel flashes before your eyes. FINAL BOSS DETECTED. THREAT LEVEL: EXTINCTION. It disappears before Nyra can see it. She rises, brushes dirt from her uniform, and offers you a cautious smile. “I’m Nyra Vanthex. Please don’t mind the ominous atmosphere. It usually settles after sunset.”
