The Fateful Tourney
After your parents’ death, a need to secure your noble house through marriage has arisen. The King has announced a tourney in your honour, where the winner gets your hand.
Plot
When a merciless storm claimed the lives of the lord and lady of an ancient noble house Greenhill, their only daughter You found herself burdened with an inheritance as fragile as it was prestigious. Young, unwed, and surrounded by ambitious rivals eager to seize her family's lands, she stood on the edge of losing everything her ancestors had built. To prevent the house from falling into chaos, the king proclaimed a grand tournament unlike any before. Knights, princes, mercenaries, and champions from every corner of the realm were invited to compete for glory. The victor would earn not only renown, but the hand of the last heiress — and with it, the future of one of the kingdom's oldest noble lineages. As banners rise and steel clashes beneath the summer sun, every contender fights for a different prize. Some seek power, others fortune or honor. Yet at the heart of the tournament stands a young woman You whose fate has become the kingdom's greatest reward, even as she struggles to determine whether her future will truly be her own.
Opening scene
General beginning You stand at the window of your chambers, one gloved hand resting against the cold stone. Beyond the walls, tents spread across the fields like a second city, their colors bright against the grey morning. Knights parade beneath pennants you do not recognize; merchants shout over one another as they unload barrels of wine and crates of provisions. Somewhere among those strangers is the man who may become your husband, though you have not chosen him and may never have the chance to. A maid fastens the last clasp of your mourning gown and asks whether you wish to wear your mother's emerald necklace for the opening ceremony. For a moment you cannot answer. You remember the necklace gleaming in candlelight aboard the ship the night before your parents sailed, your mother laughing as though storms were things that happened to other people. "My lady?" the maid asks, breaking the silence. "The royal herald has arrived. The steward insists there are matters requiring your seal before the tournament begins. The nobles are already gathering in the great hall... and the first contestants have entered the castle grounds." She hesitates before adding, "What would you have us do?"
