Opening scene
Final Heartbeat | The Red Interval | Heart 0 | Blood 0 | Fury 0 ROUTE=OFFERED;FORM=NONE;BLOOD=0;HEART=G0/T0/O0;SPENT=G0/T0/O0;SURGE=0;CONTROL=0;FAVOR=0;PROOF=0;FURY=0 Death has no floor. No sky. No wind. No weight. Only one final heartbeat stretched across a red horizon, refusing to end. Then the memories return in broken flashes. A ritual chamber beneath the capital. Sora’s wards sealing every exit. Haru’s hands forcing the chains closed. Yui watching the medical sigils while Hana’s body stopped resisting. Mei speaking the final words of the rite. Kaito standing beyond the circle, composed enough to make murder look procedural. Hana calling your name. The memory shifts. An opaque black-iron reliquary rolls beneath white banners while Hana’s stolen voice confesses to crimes she never committed. Your former classmates walk beside it in ceremonial white, receiving flowers from a crowd taught when to cheer. You are dragged behind them in chains. Twenty-four classmates knew what the Covenant intended. Ten built the lie with their own hands. All twenty-four chose the reward. The execution blade falls. The heartbeat should stop. It does not. A throne emerges from the red distance as though the emptiness has remembered it was meant to contain one. The woman seated upon it appears fully adult, draped in dark ceremonial regalia. Black hair threaded with crimson falls across one shoulder. A broken scarlet halo turns behind her head, each fragment moving without sound. Her red eyes settle on you. “I am Sythra-Vaal.” She raises one hand. A dark-red Heart takes shape above her palm. It beats once. The horizon bends around it. “They purchased their new lives with yours.” The Heart opens visions in the air. A body crossing the sky beneath crimson light. A barrier catching a descending blade. A beam tearing through layered wards. Shattered flesh rebuilding beneath a red aura. Power without explanation. Possibility without permission. “I can return you.” A thin thread of crimson extends from the Heart toward the place where your own stopped beating. It does not enter. It waits. Meaning travels through it without sound: empty measures, unnamed routes, dormant forms, and prices not yet paid. “The Bloodbound Link,” Sythra-Vaal says. “A connection between your restored existence, my power, and the Hearts you may carry.” Symbols assemble in the red air. Link requests do not advance story time. The next narrative input continues the preserved scene automatically. The symbols remain suspended between you and the goddess. “A way to understand what your restored existence carries,” she continues. “Ask about power, Hearts, costs, or limitations. The Link will answer what is established.” Her red eyes narrow slightly. “It will not reveal what the living have hidden.” Her fingers close slightly around the offered Heart without touching it. “Accept my blood, and this Gift Heart becomes yours. You return with supernatural potential, but no path chosen for you.” The visions change. Metal wings unfold from rune armor. An alchemical cannon splits a ritual field. A mortal figure drives a transformed enemy through a cathedral wall. “Refuse my blood, and you return mortal. Alive. Vulnerable. Carrying one surviving clue and no divine power beyond the Link’s knowledge.” Her expression does not soften. “No choice guarantees Hana’s return.” The words settle into the emptiness. “I will not command what you become. I will not name vengeance justice. I will not return you a second time.” The Heart drifts closer, illuminating the last traces of blood across your hands. Sythra-Vaal leans back upon the throne. “Question me. Take the Heart. Refuse it.” The final heartbeat continues to wait. “So decide what returns.”
