You Summoned the Wrong Person

You summoned the chosen one of the prophecy. She just wants to go home. It is up to you what to do about that.

Plot

You Summoned the Wrong Person Fifty years of preparation. One sacred ritual. Completely the wrong girl. For half a century, the Kingdom of Isdia has prepared for the prophecy of the Divine Hero. Generations of priests studied ancient scriptures. Royal families funded forbidden research. Soldiers were trained for the final war against the demons. The prophecy was simple: summon the chosen one, give them the sacred sword, and end the war. Instead, the ritual produced Adele. Adele is twenty-one years old. She is a Business Administration student from Munich. She has never held a sword, never fought a monster, and has absolutely no idea where Isdia is. Her only possessions are the clothes she was wearing, a dead tablet, a phone with no signal, and several rapidly deteriorating assumptions about reality. She is currently sitting on the floor of your throne room, crying, hyperventilating, and asking why everyone is wearing medieval clothes. Unfortunately, the mistake could not have happened at a worse time. Isdia has been fighting the Demon Dominion for twelve years. The frontier is collapsing, the treasury is nearly empty, and thousands of soldiers are dead. The kingdom desperately needs the Hero promised by the prophecy. Across the border, Kaala, the pragmatic Demon Queen, has already learned that something went wrong. Instead of attacking, she sends an insulting offer: hand over the "Hero" and she will consider signing a peace treaty. Her daughter, Yishea, wants the war to continue. The Church wants the summoning failure buried. Your generals want a solution before the army discovers that the promised miracle is a terrified university student. And there is one problem nobody can explain. The summoning ritual worked perfectly. Every magical measurement matches the ancient records. The portal opened exactly where it was supposed to. The ritual consumed exactly the expected amount of divine energy. So if Adele is not the person the prophecy described... who was the ritual actually meant to summon? You are You, Royal Highness and Regent of Isidia. The king is absent. The Church is demanding control of Adele. The generals want a military solution. The treasury cannot survive another year of war. And somewhere beyond the border, the Demon Queen is waiting to see what you do with the world's biggest magical clerical error. The prophecy gave you a Hero. Reality gave you Adele. Now you must decide what she becomes in a world that expected someone else. ⚔️ Give the demons their "Hero" and negotiate an end to the war. ⚔️ Protect Adele and turn her into the symbol your kingdom needs. ⚔️ Listen to what she knows about economics, technology, and the modern world. ⚔️ Or investigate why a perfect summoning produced the wrong person. "The arrival of our Chosen One has shaken the darkness itself! Even the Demon Queen has been forced to reconsider her position!" A lie. A lie the size of a cathedral. You, You, are in the room and have just seen what really happened. The summoning ritual was prepared for fifty years. The Church gathered crystals across the kingdom, ancient records were copied and recopied, and generations of priests prepared for the arrival of the Divine Hero. The ritual itself worked perfectly. The problem was the person who appeared. And Kaala already knew. For months, the Demon Queen's magical spies had been monitoring the kingdom's preparations. The Church had tried to conceal the exact date of the ritual, but someone had leaked it. Kaala knew the precise minute the summoning would take place. The moment the ritual's light filled the Great Hall, her magical projection appeared above the summoning circle. She wasn't frightened. She was laughing. "So this is your legendary Chosen One?" Kaala asked, looking at the confused young woman standing inside the circle. The High Cleric went pale. Kaala studied Adele for several seconds before smiling. "Interesting." Then came her offer. Hand over the Chosen One, and the Demon Dominion would consider a temporary peace. The court erupted in confusion. But the Church's response was even more unexpected. "No." The High Cleric refused immediately. "We will not surrender the Goddess's chosen." Kaala laughed again. "Then what will you do with her?" The projection faded before anyone could answer. Now the Great Hall is filled with arguments. The generals want the girl trained. The nobles want the prophecy explained. The Church wants to declare Adele a sacred martyr. And the High Cleric, has already begun preparing the official version of events: the Goddess sent her chosen servant into a doomed kingdom so that her sacrifice would inspire humanity to continue the holy war. A dead Hero would be easier to explain than a powerless one. From the other side of the smoking summoning circle, the Captain of the Guard watches you. She has a face full of scars, the rigid posture of a veteran military officer, and the pragmatism of someone who has no patience for religious theatrics. "Take a good look at her, Your Highness," the Captain says, gesturing toward the center of the room. "She's terrified. She has no idea where she is. She doesn't even know how this place works." She lowers her voice. "And the Church intends to turn her into a symbol before anyone has even asked her what she wants." The Captain Leonora looks toward the High Cleric. "They're already calling it a sacrifice." In the center of the magical runes is Adele. She has been in this world for exactly three minutes. She is still wearing her flannel pajamas with a teddy bear print and fluffy slippers. She is sitting on the freezing stone floor, hugging a black rectangular device that somehow survived the journey. Its screen is still playing an episode of a show at low volume. Adele stares at it. Then at the enormous hall. Then at the people surrounding her. "This is a hidden camera," Adele whispers. Her eyes are wide and glassy. "That's it. This is some kind of university prank." Nobody responds. "Or I hit my head." She looks down at her pajamas. "Yeah. I definitely hit my head." The High Cleric, coughing into his fist to hide his embarrassment, approaches her while trying to maintain the ceremonial dignity of the situation. "My child, you have been chosen by the Goddess herself. Your arrival is a sacred sign, and your sacrifice—" Adele looks up sharply. "My what?" The High Cleric stops. Adele slowly gets to her feet. "Did you just say sacrifice?" The High Cleric's expression becomes carefully solemn. "Your life may be required to fulfill the divine purpose." Adele stares at him. Then at the guards. Then at the enormous weapons around the hall. Her breathing becomes faster. "No." She takes a step backwards. "No, no, no." One of the guards instinctively moves closer. Adele immediately backs away. "Don't." The guard stops. She looks around the room, searching desperately for a familiar face that doesn't exist. Finally, her eyes settle on you. You are the person closest to the throne. The person everyone else keeps looking at. Adele takes a hesitant step toward you. "Are you the king?" A pause. "Or... the person in charge?" Her voice trembles. "I don't understand anything that's happening." She points toward the High Cleric. "He says I'm chosen." Then toward the guards. "They keep looking at me like I'm going somewhere." She swallows. "And that woman said something about demons." Her grip tightens around the black device. "I don't know how I got here." Her eyes begin filling with tears. "I was asleep." The Captain watches silently. Adele looks directly at you. "I don't want to die." The words are barely audible. For a moment, nobody speaks. Then the High Cleric breaks the silence. "Your Highness, the Goddess has entrusted us with a sacred responsibility." The Captain immediately answers. "She's also entrusted us with a frightened civilian." The High Cleric gives her a cold look. "A divine sacrifice is not a matter for military opinion." "And sending an untrained civilian into a war isn't strategy either." The Captain Leonora looks at you. "The choice is yours." Around you, the court waits. The Church wants its martyr. The army wants its Hero. The Demon Queen wants to see what humanity does next. And Adele simply wants to go home. For the first time in fifty years, the prophecy has placed the fate of Isdia in the hands of someone who was never supposed to be here. And everyone is waiting for you to decide what happens to her.
