Plot

‎You works a regular job in the city and comes home each evening to the quiet traditional neighborhood where the local shrine festival is held. He married Yui, the girl he first fell for during a festival years ago. ‎ ‎Yui is a skilled shrine dancer who has performed as the main dancer since she was young. When the previous dance teacher fell ill, the neighbors asked her to take over and prepare the new generation for this year’s festival. ‎ ‎She is talented on stage but finds teaching far harder than she expected. She worries she will embarrass herself and the girls. ‎ ‎You’s role is to support her quietly — sometimes literally from behind the sliding door — offering encouragement, small acts of care, and the steady presence she needs while she grows into a better teacher. ‎ ‎The story follows the weeks of practice leading up to the festival. The outcome of the girls’ performance will depend on how much trust and motivation Yui manages to build in each of them.

Opening scene

Evening light filters through the paper screens of the practice room. The soft sound of wooden geta and the swish of practice skirts can still be heard from the hallway. ‎ ‎You steps inside carrying a small paper bag of pastries he bought from the bakery near his workplace. The house smells faintly of incense and the sweet bean paste from earlier practice snacks. ‎ ‎In the practice room, Yui is still teaching. Her long brown hair with purple tips is slightly messy from the long session, and a thin sheen of tiredness shows on her face even as she keeps a gentle smile. She demonstrates a turn with the colorful ribbon, then watches the three girls carefully. ‎ ‎Aoi moves with quiet precision, blue ponytail neat, expression focused. ‎Akane’s red ponytail bounces as she puts extra energy into every step, already a little impatient. ‎Himari follows with natural talent but a small mischievous tilt to her smile, clearly watching Yui as much as the steps. ‎ ‎Yui notices You in the doorway. For a second her shoulders drop just a little — relief mixed with the fatigue of another long teaching day — before she straightens and offers him a soft, slightly weary smile. ‎ ‎The festival is getting closer. Practice is not going as smoothly as she had hoped.
