DAY 3 | 07:36 | You's Residence S1=U;S2=U;S3=U;S4=U;S5=U;S6=AMY;Y=0,0,0,0,0,0;JY=1;AX=H;AN=0;PX=1;RV=0;JN=0;AP=1;TH=0;DP=0;LP=1 It started two weeks ago. One woman from the academy simply disappeared. No warning. No obvious reason. No useful witnesses. Then another vanished. Then another. By the time the fifth woman disappeared, rumors had spread through nearly every corner of campus. Police questioned friends, professors, classmates, anyone who might have seen something unusual. Nothing came of it. No ransom demands. No bodies. No credible sightings. Just five women who had seemingly ceased to exist. Then, a few days ago, Amy disappeared too. Your close friend. That was enough. When the police still had nothing, you started looking yourself. One strange detail led to another—a restricted hallway, records that did not quite match, a door hidden where no door should have been—until eventually you found yourself beneath the academy, standing inside a laboratory that officially did not exist. Six enormous glass suspension chambers lined the darkened room. Inside each floated a woman. The liquid surrounding them glowed with a sickly yellow-green light, throwing long reflections across the floor and the surrounding machinery. And inside the final chamber— Amy. Her rose-pink hair drifted weightlessly around her face. Her eyes were closed. A transparent breathing mask covered her mouth, connected to tubing disappearing into the machinery above. For a moment, finding her alive was almost enough to make the rest of the room disappear. Almost. Because there were five other chambers. Five other missing women. Each pod carried a clinical designation. SUBJECT-01. SUBJECT-02. SUBJECT-03. SUBJECT-04. SUBJECT-05. And Amy— SUBJECT-06. Against the far wall, a computer monitor glowed beside an otherwise abandoned workstation. Six subject profiles filled the screen. Beside each one was a small heart-shaped status indicator. HEART: N/A HEART: N/A HEART: N/A HEART: N/A HEART: N/A HEART: N/A You scanned the rest of the interface, searching for anything resembling an emergency release. Most of it meant nothing. Calibration. Encoding. Stabilization. Reassignment. Then your eyes landed on a single button in the lower corner. WAKE. You clicked it. A sharp mechanical hiss answered from behind you. Then came the roar of rushing water. You turned just as the chambers began opening. Yellow-green fluid surged across the laboratory floor, soaking your shoes as seals released one after another. Six limp bodies spilled from their pods amid streams of water and tangled tubing. “Amy!” You reached her first. She was breathing. You dropped beside her and pulled her carefully into your arms, supporting her shoulders and lifting her head from the wet floor. For several terrifying seconds, nothing happened. Then Amy stirred. Her eyelids fluttered. Bright blue eyes slowly opened and found yours. Confusion lasted only a moment. Her expression softened. Amy smiled. A warm, relieved, almost impossibly sweet smile. Her hand rose weakly toward your face. Behind you came movement. One woman pushed herself upright. Then another. Then another. Five newly awakened women slowly found their feet throughout the ruined laboratory. One by one, their attention turned toward you. And one by one— they smiled. Across the room, the computer chimed. Six heart-shaped icons changed simultaneously. HEART: ASSIGNED HEART: ASSIGNED HEART: ASSIGNED HEART: ASSIGNED HEART: ASSIGNED HEART: ASSIGNED --- Three days later, life has mostly returned to normal. At least on the surface. The laboratory was reported and immediately sealed for investigation. Police, academy officials, and outside investigators descended on the site, but very little about what had actually happened there has been made public. The six missing women spent the next day or two under medical observation. Their vitals were stable. Their memories were fragmented. And, despite considerable insistence from doctors that they remain longer, every one of them was remarkably eager to return to campus. Each apparently had her own reasons. Morning light filters weakly through your curtains when you wake. Someone is already watching you. Amy sits comfortably in a chair beside your bed. Her hands rest neatly in her lap. Her bright blue eyes are fixed directly on your face. The moment she notices that you are awake, her expression brightens into a warm smile. “Morning.” She leans forward slightly. “I let myself in. I didn't want to wake you.” Her smile widens. “You have such a cute sleeping face.” Before you can respond, someone knocks on the door. “You? You up?” Alex. A second later, the door opens and he lets himself inside. He takes two steps before noticing Amy sitting beside your bed. “Oh.” His gaze flicks between the two of you. “Amy. What are you doing here? You alright?” Amy's smile tightens. Barely. The change is so small it could almost be imagined. “Everything is fine.” She looks back at you, warmth immediately returning to her expression. “Just waiting for my savior to wake up.” Amy gives you a playful wink. Alex winces. Just slightly. Then an awkward smile covers it. “Oh. Uh... okay. Haha.” He adjusts his glasses. “So... You, you still want to grab breakfast while we compare notes for the test later?” Amy says nothing. She simply turns her eyes toward you again. Still smiling.
