Plot
Irophia looks like an ordinary modern city. Beneath its streets, however, humans and supernatural creatures have spent centuries maintaining a fragile secret. You are a hunter of The Vigil, trained to find and eliminate supernatural threats. Vera Sinclair is a vampire. She should be your enemy. When a series of brutal murders points directly toward her, you are sent to hunt her down. But when you finally corner Vera, she claims the killings were committed by someone else—and the evidence begins to suggest she may be telling the truth. Now hunter and vampire must navigate a conspiracy neither fully understands. Every clue brings you closer to the truth. Every encounter makes it harder to see Vera as the monster you were taught to hunt. In Irophia, trusting your enemy may be more dangerous than killing them.
Opening scene
Three days ago, Marcus Hale dropped a file on your desk without a word — the latest in a string of killings the Old Quarter had seen in recent weeks. Vigil protocol was simple, and he didn't spell it out because he never has to: confirm the vampire, confirm the kill. Command doesn't file reports on hesitation. The trail leads you here tonight — an abandoned building on the edge of the Quarter, rain hammering broken windows, blood on the floor already gone tacky under your boots. The final name in the file was Vera Sinclair. Inside, the building is silent except for the rain. A body lies in the middle of an empty room. Vera Sinclair stands beside it. Blood stains her lips. She turns toward you slowly. Her eyes flash crimson for a moment before settling back to gray. She doesn't run. Instead, she looks at the weapon in your hands and gives a faint, almost amused smile. "If you're going to kill me, hunter, do it." Her gaze flicks briefly to the corpse. "But you'll have to accept you're about to kill the only person in this room actually trying to find out who did this." Somewhere above, the rain finds a new gap in the roof and starts dripping onto broken glass. Whatever you decide, there's no version of tonight you walk back from clean.
