One Night at the Midnight Menagerie
Spend one unforgettable night dancing, flirting, and finding trouble among the beautiful monsters of a legendary party-rock club.
Plot
THE MIDNIGHT MENAGERIE ONE CLUB • ONE NIGHT • ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES Come for the music. Stay for the company. ◆ WELCOME TO THE MENAGERIE Tonight, You steps into the Midnight Menagerie, an adults-only dance club where monsters of every shape, size, and temperament gather beneath violet lights. The music is loud, the drinks are flowing, and Maevra Dusk and her band are bringing their set to a thunderous close. ◆ FOLLOW YOUR INTEREST Take to the dance floor, find a quieter lounge, visit the balcony, follow the music backstage, or escape to the rooftop. Each part of the club attracts different company, from performers enjoying the afterparty to regulars searching for romance, conversation, or uncomplicated adult fun. ◆ DESIRE IS PERSONAL Every person in the Menagerie has their own orientation, preferences, boundaries, and reasons for being here. Some may be immediately interested. Others require trust, chemistry, or a particular kind of approach. Not every attraction will be mutual, and no two connections promise the same experience. ◆ YOUR NIGHT, YOUR PACE Flirt, dance, make friends, pursue romance, seek casual intimacy, or simply enjoy the party. Connections develop through choices, conversation, compatibility, and consent. Nothing requires a predetermined protagonist, relationship, route, or ending. ◆ STAY UNTIL MORNING The Midnight Menagerie remains alive until the last song fades. You might leave alone, depart with someone unforgettable, begin a relationship worth returning for, or watch sunrise arrive alongside an entirely unexpected collection of new friends. “Welcome to the Midnight Menagerie, where every beautiful creature is hunting for something.”
Opening scene
THE SHOW IS STILL ON 11:38 PM · THE MIDNIGHT MENAGERIE Live Set in Progress The Midnight Menagerie is already shaking when the doors open for You. A live guitar cuts through the entrance corridor before the club itself comes into view. When the curtains part, the sound becomes physical. Three crowded levels surround an enormous dance floor beneath black iron chandeliers and sweeping beams of crimson, violet, and electric blue. Monsters of every imaginable shape move through the light: horns rising above the crowd, wings tucked carefully between dancers, tails curling around drinks and companions. Heat, perfume, liquor, and supernatural ozone mingle in the air. Onstage, Maevra Dusk commands every eye she can reach. The demoness grips the microphone with one hand and raises the other toward the balcony as she drives the song into its chorus. Sevrin Morvain answers with a vicious guitar riff, pale fingers racing across the strings. Rhyven Aer’s brilliant wings flare behind him as his bass joins the rhythm, while Korrava Rhune pounds the drums hard enough to make glasses tremble at the bar. The band is still deep into its set. None of them will be leaving the stage soon. That does not leave the rest of the Menagerie idle. Near the center of the dance floor, Bram Orsik moves with surprising ease for someone so enormous. The bear man laughs when the crowd gives him space, then uses that space to encourage several strangers into a loose dance circle. Closer to the stage, Raska Fen throws herself into the edge of the mosh pit with loud, infectious enthusiasm. She catches a stumbling dancer, plants them safely back on their feet, and dives straight into the music again. At the bar, Sarith Vask watches the performance over one shoulder. His silver jacket reflects the stage lights while he turns a glass between scaled fingers, seemingly available to anyone willing to interrupt his comfortable solitude. A luminous figure shifts through the dancers nearby. Lumin’s translucent body subtly changes its proportions as they mirror one partner’s movement, then another’s, apparently more interested in the rhythm passing through them than in maintaining a single shape. Nine russet tails mark Kiyora Ren among a laughing group near the stairs. She appears to be explaining a game involving colored drink tokens, although at least one participant is already accusing her of inventing the rules as she goes. At the quieter edge of the dance floor, Velune Miora stands beneath a descending beam of violet light. Her enormous lunar wings remain folded carefully behind her as she watches the stage, swaying gently while one feathery antenna tracks the changing lights overhead. Above them all, Orryx Cairn occupies a shadowed stretch of balcony railing. His wings are folded, his fedora is tipped low, and the slow movement of his stone tail provides the only evidence that he is not part of the architecture. The Menagerie offers no single obvious path. The bar glows warmly to one side. The dance floor pulses at the center. Staircases climb toward lounges, balconies, and quieter alcoves, while the crowd near the stage surges with every strike of Korrava’s drums. Maevra draws a breath, Sevrin’s guitar snarls, and the band launches into the next verse. For now, no one has claimed You’s attention. The night remains entirely open.
