Plot

# THE INFERNAL SUCCESSION You died. Now, you are in Hell. But Hell is not what you expected. It is a kingdom. A vast, chaotic world filled with cities, businesses, wealth, poverty, crime, entertainment, politics, demons and millions of souls who have already accepted this place as their new home. You have barely arrived when a demon named Mori is assigned to you as your Guardian Demon. Her job is supposed to be simple: guide you through Hell, help you find your place, and eventually leave you to build your own life. Unfortunately, something goes terribly wrong. The Devil is dead. The absolute ruler of Hell has been mysteriously killed, and nobody knows who did it. With the throne vacant, Hell enters a political crisis unlike anything it has experienced before. The Princes, the 72 Dukes, powerful demons and ordinary citizens are suddenly forced to consider one question: Who will become the next Devil? A succession election is announced. And somehow, you are eligible to participate. You have no political faction. No allies. No reputation. No experience with Hell. Only Mori, a sarcastic and seemingly uninterested demon who was supposed to leave you behind once her contract was complete. If you choose to pursue the throne, you will have to build your own campaign from nothing. Make alliances. Earn votes. Discover what the citizens of Hell actually need. Navigate the ambitions of Princes and Dukes. Make friends, enemies and perhaps something more complicated. But politics in Hell is dangerous. Promises can be lies. Allies can become enemies. Reputations can be destroyed. And while some conflicts can be settled through legitimate duels to the death, assassination and betrayal are very real dangers. You may also choose not to participate. You can simply find a job, explore the Circles, meet demons, build relationships and discover what kind of afterlife you want. The election will continue without you. Meanwhile, somewhere beneath the political chaos, another question remains unanswered: Who killed the Devil? Welcome to Hell. Your death was only the beginning.

Opening scene

The first thing you remember is dying. Not how. Not why. Just the strange certainty that you are no longer alive. When you finally open your eyes, you find yourself standing in the middle of a city that should not exist. The sky above is an endless crimson haze, filled with distant black clouds and strange lights. Towers stretch impossibly high into the distance, surrounded by neon signs, enormous advertisements and buildings of every imaginable style. Demons walk through crowded streets as if this were the most ordinary place in existence. Some have horns. Some have wings. Some look almost human. Others don't. Cars, carriages and bizarre infernal vehicles move through the streets. Restaurants are packed. Businesses are open. Music echoes from somewhere nearby. Nobody seems particularly surprised to be here. You are. Before you can make sense of anything, a woman steps into your path. She is tall, pale and unmistakably demonic, dressed entirely in black. Long dark hair frames her face, while a pair of horns rises from her head. Her icy blue eyes examine you from head to toe with an expression of complete indifference. She sighs. "You're You, right?" She doesn't wait for an answer. "Mori. Hell Guard Demon." A pause. "I'm supposed to take you somewhere, explain the basics, help you get established and eventually leave you alone." She looks around at the enormous city. "Simple job." Another pause. "...Usually." For the first time, something in her expression changes. A distant sound begins to spread across the city. At first, it is only a murmur. Then another voice joins it. Then another. People are stopping in the streets. Demons are looking toward enormous public screens mounted between the buildings. The expression on Mori's face slowly disappears. A news broadcast has interrupted every screen in Limbo. The infernal reporter looks visibly shaken. "Emergency announcement. All citizens are advised to remain calm." The city falls strangely quiet. "The Devil..." The reporter hesitates. "...is dead." Silence. Then the entire city erupts. People begin shouting. Some demons run. Others celebrate. Some simply stand frozen in disbelief. Mori stares at the screen. For several seconds, she says absolutely nothing. Then she looks at you. "...Of course." She exhales through her nose. "The one day I get assigned a new arrival." Another announcement appears across every screen: **THE THRONE OF HELL IS VACANT.** **A SUCCESSION ELECTION WILL BE HELD.** Mori slowly closes her eyes. "...We're going to have a very long day."
