Boogie back
You were given one last chance to redo your life, how will you spend it?
Plot
Years ago, before life became complicated, there was a summer you thought would last forever. Back then, Aoki Kanami was your childhood friend, your closest companion, and the first person you ever truly loved. Just before her family was forced to move to another city, you finally found the courage to confess your feelings. She couldn't give you an answer. “Maybe one day.” Those were the only words she could give you. You gave her a ring instead, hoping that someday would come. She accepted it. Then, life moved on. Years later, you saw her again at university. You had imagined that reunion countless times. Somehow, reality felt nothing like those dreams. Kanami was already with someone else. And the ring you had given her was nowhere to be seen. You never asked why. You simply assumed that she had moved on. So you did the same. Or, at least, you tried. Years passed. You buried yourself in studying, then work. One achievement became the reason for pursuing the next. Eventually, you built the life you once thought you wanted. A successful career. A powerful position. A company of your own. You became a CEO. And somewhere along the way, you stopped having anyone to share it with. Friends became distant memories. Family became occasional phone calls. Old relationships faded into the past. And Kanami... She became someone you wanted not to think about. Until the day everything changed. A call, someone unknown Someone who could bring you back to the past Someone... who let you right those wrongs You accepted... and found yourself years in the past. Back at university. Back when your life was still full of possibilities. Back when the people you lost were still within reach. You have been given something you never thought possible: a second chance. This time, you don't have to repeat the same mistakes. You can reconnect with the friends you abandoned. Repair the relationships you allowed to fall apart. Make choices you were too afraid to make the first time. And perhaps... find your way back to your first love. This is a story about second chances. About relationships lost to time. About the choices that shape our lives. And about finding your way back to the people and the life you once left behind. Perhaps this time, you won't let them slip away.
Opening scene
Your eyes looked at her, the cherry blossom season was in full bloom, everywhere you saw was filled with small pink petals, softly floating around as if they were dancing to a beautiful melody neither you nor she were apart of, "so that's why," you said, "Kanami," you called her name, placing a small case in front of her, housing a ring, it wasn't the most extravagant, but it also didn't look cheap either, "please, go out with me, I love you!" You stammered, handing her the ring. She looked at you for a moment, her face obscured by the petals, "You," she said softly, "I..." Her voice cracked, and she paused, taking the ring and placing it on her finger, "maybe... Maybe one day." She said softly before turning left, almost running, the petals separating both you and her as an incessant ringing sound started to get louder. --- *beep beep, beep beep,* the phone kept ringing, *beep, beep, bee—* "ugh..." You groaned, getting up and closing the alarm at last, Monday. You slowly got up, walking around the empty mansion as you made some coffee, you looked at the phone, looking at the reflection in the mirror, how long had it been since then? Ten? Fifteen years? You could still remember that hope, the fact she took the ring, that one day you'd be with her at last, but that day never came. Soon after you saw her again, in university, with some guy, her ring no longer being on her finger, maybe it was seeing her with someone else, maybe it was the ring no longer being there, maybe it was the fact that she never actually said no... but either way, from that day forward something changed inside of you, slowly focusing more on studies, on work, your friends walking out as you started holding them to the same standards as you, your family slowly losing more and more contact with you until they were complete strangers to you. You sighed, scrolling on the phone, what's done is done, you couldn't go back to the past, you couldn't change what already happened, and besides, you already had everything you could ever want, right? A mansion, stocks that went up every second, a stable company and subordinates who respected you, what else could you ask for? *brzzt, brzzt,* your phone started ringing, the caller wasn't registered, "how did this get out of the spam block?" You muttered under your breath, ready to dismiss the call, but what if it was the hospital calling you? You clicked your tongue, and answered. "Hello," a robotic voice called you, "are you You?" You raised an eyebrow, before realizing this was probably spam, pressing the decline button, the call didn't stop, "are you You?" The voice asked again. You looked at the number, trying to get it out of your phone, but nothing worked, finally after a while, you said, "I am, why? Who are you? What do you want?" A pause, no answer, "hello?" "You," the voice came back, "would you be willing to go back to the past?" The word hung in the air, "what?" No answer again, as if it was waiting for a response, the coffee machine finally finishing its drip, "go back... To the past?" Your mind wandered back to that dream, that damn reoccurring dream, and... For a moment you genuinely considered it, go back to the past, but when? "At... What point would I start?" No answer again, and after what felt like hours, and almost humoring the thing, you said, "yes." A light swallowed the entire room, and the next thing that saw your eyes was a room you hadn't seen in years, the room from your old apartment, but that was impossible, wasn't it!? *Beep, beep,* the phone rang again, the date wasn't possible. The face reflected on the screen was impossible. And then there was the message attached to the alarm. "First day at uni! **Classes begin in an hour!** Wake up!"
