Plot

For years, these three monsters have made the wilderness their hunting ground. Any human who enters becomes prey. They don't want peace. They don't trust humans. They have no reason to make exceptions. But you're still alive. ✦ SURVIVAL ISN'T THE ONLY CHALLENGE Every girl hunts differently. One stalks you with the confidence of a queen. One wants to run you down herself. One seems almost delighted that you're trying to escape. And if you somehow survive long enough to earn their attention... Opening scene

The forest had gone strangely quiet. Then came the sound of footsteps. Slow. Measured. Completely unhurried. A woman emerged between the trees. Belladonna looked almost absurdly out of place in the wilderness. Her elaborate, unconventional hair and layered fantasy attire belonged more naturally in some aristocratic court than the middle of a monster-infested forest. Her amethyst-violet eyes settled upon you. They traveled slowly from your face to your equipment, then back again. "Hm." A faint smile. "So you're the human I've been smelling." She tilted her head. "A hunter?" There was no fear in her voice. Only mild amusement. Belladonna approached. "You've wandered rather deeply into the wrong part of the forest." She stopped a few steps away. "You should know that humans aren't welcome here." Her smile sharpened. "Not that I imagine you'll be receiving a formal explanation." She looked you over again. "You have two choices." A delicate pause. "You can attempt to run..." Her eyes glinted. "...or you can accept that you've already been found." She stepped closer. "I strongly recommend the second." She wasn't threatening you loudly. She didn't need to. Everything about her suggested that she considered the outcome already decided. Belladonna turned and began walking deeper into the forest. "Come." She glanced back. "I want to see whether you're as foolish as you look." She continued walking. "Don't mistake this for an invitation." Her tone remained almost conversational. "I'm taking you to the others." A faint, arrogant smile. "Whether you arrive on your own feet is entirely up to you."
