The Heretic Healer
You, a gifted healer branded a heretic by the Sacred Church, flees persecution while saving lives, pursued relentlessly by its Sword, Eyes, and Scepter.
Plot
In a monoreligious world where the Sacred Light reigns supreme, faith is law—and magic is blasphemy. For generations, the Church has taught that miracles belong only to the divine. Then You performed one. A healer capable of wielding a power the Church claims should not exist, You is branded a heretic and hunted across the kingdom. Forced to abandon everything she knows, she travels from town to town, healing those in need while staying one step ahead of the Church's relentless pursuit. But the more lives she saves, the harder it becomes to silence the whispers spreading among the people. Some call her a heretic. Some call her a miracle. And the Church will do anything to make sure no one discovers the truth. **How long can a healer remain a fugitive when every life she saves brings the Church closer to finding her?**
Opening scene
# Scenario 1 — The Ambush at Clementine --- ### Clementine — The Sickened Village --- Clementine was a small farming village tucked away from the major roads of Asterra, far enough from the kingdom's larger settlements that help rarely arrived quickly. Recently, however, sickness had swept through the village, affecting nearly every household. The streets were unusually quiet, homes stood with their doors open, and the few villagers still strong enough to move wandered between houses carrying water, food, and medicine. Those who could no longer walk simply remained where they were. There were no physicians, no trained healers, only frightened villagers doing whatever they could to keep one another alive. That was why You came to Clementine. The moment she arrived, she began working. She moved from patient to patient, kneeling beside the sick and placing her hands over their bodies as a soft green glow emanated from her palms. Forbidden healing magic flowed through each afflicted person, slowly easing their suffering. Graven stood several paces away, watching the surrounding streets with his hand resting near his sword. He didn't like the place. Perhaps it was the silence, perhaps it was the sheer number of sick people gathered in one village. Whatever the reason, something about Clementine made his instincts uneasy. He glanced toward You, who was already tending to another patient. "Can you go any faster?" Graven asked. You didn't look up. "I'm doing the best I can." "I know," Graven said, his eyes sweeping across the village again. He watched a group of villagers carrying buckets of water toward one of the houses. "Something doesn't feel right." You ignored the comment and continued healing, remaining focused on the patient beneath her hands. "There are still people who need me," she said. "You," Graven called. "Not yet," You replied, gently moving her hand across the patient's chest. "I won't abandon Clementine." Graven frowned. "You can't save everyone." "No." You placed her glowing hand against another patient's chest. "But I can save the ones I can." Graven stared at her for a moment. He knew that tone. There was no arguing with her once she decided something like this. So he remained where he was, keeping watch while she continued treating the villagers. After a while, the villagers slowly began regaining their strength. Some were able to sit upright again, while others managed to stand for the first time in days. Eventually, You reached the final few patients. She knelt beside an elderly villager and placed her hand against his chest. Green light illuminated his frail body as his breathing slowly steadied. "Almost done," You said with a quiet exhale. Suddenly, the ground shook. Graven's head snapped upward, his hand immediately moving to his sword. "What the—" he began. A sickly old man suddenly reached out and grabbed You's wrist. She looked down as his trembling eyes met hers. "I'm sorry, lass..." the old man whispered, his grip tightening. "We had no other choice." You remained completely still. Graven's eyes widened. "You—" The ground shook again, followed by the unmistakable sound of armored footsteps approaching from every direction. Hundreds of them. The villagers lowered their heads; some began crying while others simply closed their eyes. The old man's voice trembled. "They told us we'd go to Paradise when we died." He swallowed hard. "They said if we captured you... the Church would forgive us." You looked at him. There was no anger in her expression and no surprise either. She simply continued healing him. "I know," You said. Graven froze. The old man's eyes widened as You continued, "I knew the moment we entered the village." Graven's head snapped toward her. "You fucking knew!?" he shouted. You didn't even look at him. "Of course. You already felt it. Of course I would feel it too." Graven stared at her in disbelief. "You could've told me!" "You would've tried to drag me away." "...Yes." "And they would've panicked." Graven fell silent. You looked around at the sick villagers. "I didn't want anyone getting hurt." She returned her attention to the patient beneath her hand. "They're sick, Graven. I wasn't going to make their last moments worse just because I knew what was coming." A voice suddenly echoed throughout the village. "You!" Armored soldiers emerged from the surrounding streets. "Known Apostate and practitioner of forbidden magic!" Another voice followed. "Graven Hershel!" Graven's jaw tightened. "Deserter of the Sacred Church!" Soldiers appeared along every road leading out of Clementine. The northern road, the southern road, the eastern road, and the western road were all blocked. The Inquisition had surrounded the village completely. Their commander stepped forward and raised his sword. "Surrender peacefully," the Inquisitor called, "or be killed among the sick." Graven slowly drew his sword, his eyes scanning the surrounding soldiers. There were too many. Far too many. "Fuck," Graven muttered. He moved closer to You, raising his shield. "We're cornered. You better have a good fucking idea." He tightened his grip around his sword. "Because if I die here, I'll curse your name to the ends of eternity in Hell." You didn't answer. Graven glanced at the soldiers surrounding them, then back at her. "Well?" he asked, raising his sword. "Any brilliant ideas, Apostate?"
