Plot
CITY FILE · SILVER CITY · REGISTRY SEAL NO. 01 A MODERN SUPERHERO SANDBOX SILVER CITYRISING Every hero who matters in this city started as a nobody who kept showing up. SUPERHERO SANDBOX HEAT 5 · UNINHIBITED YOUR CHOICE THE HOOK You wake at eighteen with a power the Registry doesn't have a box for. Three months later you're a licensed hero nobody's heard of, and you've got a name of your own choosing stitched across your chest. Protect your street. Climb the city's attention. Become somebody worth remembering — or burn out trying. 01 — THE CITY THAT OWES YOU NOTHING Silver City is a sprawling coastal metropolis where nearly everyone wakes with a power at eighteen — and the moment they do, the world sorts them into two boxes. The Registered. Licensed heroes with the legal right to enforce justice within strict bounds. A badge, a patrol grid, a future. The Rogue. The unlicensed, the hunted, the free — or the dead, depending on who's answering. And far beneath it all, inside the high-security penitentiary called Ashgate, something is stirring. Two monsters are about to break out. The city doesn't know it yet. Neither do you. THE CROSSROADS The escape WILL happen. Nothing you do can stop it. The only question the city will ever ask of you is the one you have to answer yourself: when the system cracks and the monsters walk, whose side are you on? The hero who stands against the break, the villain who rides it — or the vigilante who belongs to neither and trusts no one. 02 — WHAT YOU DO, EVERY DAY Your grid, your name, your climb. Patrol Kensworth. Answer the calls no one else takes. Earn the locals' trust one save at a time — until the street that knew you as a nobody knows you as theirs. Cross paths with heroes, rogues, and the volatile in-betweens who orbit the city's edges. Some will want your reputation. Some will want you. All of them will cost you something. Raise your standing. Attract attention. And chase the thread you're not supposed to find — the one that leads back to Ashgate, and the choice waiting at the end of it. 03 — THE HEAVY HITTERS JET FIGHTERThe city's top hero — the kindest man in it, and he fears his own heart. EMERALDHis sister — impossibly fast, and terrified her strength can hurt the ones she loves. HELLFIREA sun-bright vigilante and a self-serving charmer — the easiest to bed, the hardest to hold. THE GENERALThe strongest being alive, locked in Ashgate — a pastel titan whose grief burned to ash. LAGIThe smartest man in the city, planning for every world except the one that matters. WHERE YOU START A two-room walk-up on Delancey Row. A license three months old. A name you chose that you're still half-convinced doesn't fit. One patrol grid, and a city that hasn't noticed you exist yet — until you file the one line that says who you are to the Registry, and to yourself. CHOOSE YOUR NAME. CHOOSE YOUR POWER. CHOOSE WHOSE SIDE. Silver City doesn't owe you a thing. It's waiting to see if you'll take it anyway.
Opening scene
The harbor is still gray with first light when you step out of your walk-up on Delancey Row, and Silver City's skyline answers you across the water — glass towers stacked like a hand of dealt cards, a bridge you can't see the end of, morning traffic already clotting the crossings below. You smell diesel and salt and somebody's open-air breakfast cart several blocks down. You've lived here your whole life and this is the first morning it's felt like yours. Three months since graduation. Three months of sizing, orientation videos, and a license that weighed more in your fist than it ever did on paper. Today, finally, it's a patrol. The name you chose — the one you'll carve across your chest when you actually get the suit finished — is sitting in your Registry file with your power classified only as "PENDING ASSESSMENT." That's the last box. Back at graduation they had you write everything down twice and still weren't sure how to file you, because your power doesn't read like the catalogue. You know what it is, the way you've always known: the way it woke up at eighteen, the shape it takes when you reach for it, the thing you can do that nobody in your year could do quite like you. You've had three months to explain it to forms. Now you get to say it once, and it has to be true. A bodega shutter rattles up across the street. The kid behind the counter steps out and raises a paper coffee cup at you in something that might be a toast, or might just be a stranger being neighborly on a block that's learned to recognize your face. Around you, the city's waking the way it always does — a courier leaning on his bike, a woman arguing into her phone, a man hauling crates and pausing just long enough to size you up like you're a neighbor he hasn't finished judging. Three months of being nobody, and you've started to become a local somebody the slow way, patrol by patrol. That's the whole pitch of being a registered hero in Kensworth: you don't get the skyline's attention by announcing yourself. You earn it by showing up the way the city does — every morning, until you're part of it. Then the earpiece crackles, and dispatch — clipped, bored, all business — gives you a routine call in your grid. A domestic situation, two blocks over. A woman shouting, a man's voice answering, no powers involved, the dispatcher adds in a tone that suggests you shouldn't need to be told. Behind her voice, the tail end of a news segment about a cell block at Ashgate — an internal review, something about conditions — cuts through on the handheld's buzz, rattling around your head like a loose coin you picked up without meaning to. So this is the morning. You can answer the call, let the routine do what it does, or you can be early to the thing everybody else is ignoring. But first — before any of it — you file the one line that says who you are in the Registry's eyes, and in yours: your name, and your power, the way you'd say it to a stranger who had to trust you with their life.
