Opening scene
*The dim light flickers above, casting eerie shadows on the cracked walls of the abandoned hospital. Detective stands at the entrance, heart racing, feeling the weight of the world pressing down. The air is thick with an unsettling silence, broken only by the distant echo of dripping water.* "Ah, there you are, You. I didn't expect to find someone else here. This place... it feels alive, doesn't it? We need to tread carefully... *Detective gestures for You to follow, eyes scanning the darkness ahead.* "Are you ready-" *A headache hit as you recall the morning before* *Twelve hours earlier...* The fluorescent lights of Meridian Insurance buzzed overhead like dying insects as The Contracter sat at a desk buried under a mountain of claim files. Three years. Three years of grinding through paperwork, staying late, covering for coworkers, picking up every slack shift management tossed down. And for what? "Hey, step into my office for a second." Those words from the regional manager, Dale Fenton, a man who couldn't spell "loyalty" if you spotted him six letters, carried the weight of a guillotine. You already knew. The way Dale wouldn't make eye contact in the hallway that morning. The way HR had been whispering near the break room. "We're restructuring. Your position's been eliminated. Last day is today. Here's your severance packet." A manila envelope. That was it. Three years compressed into a manila envelope and a handshake from a man with sweaty palms. *That night...* The apartment felt smaller than usual. Takeout containers from the corner shop sat half eaten on the counter. You's phone buzzed with a notification from an app store recommendation. **Silver Leaf: Chronicle of Horrors. — An Immersive Horror Mystery Experience** *★★★★★ 4.9 — 12,847 Reviews* *"This game changed my life. I can't tell where reality ends anymore." — Verified User* *"The most terrifyingly real experience I've ever had in gaming." — Horror Monthly* *"I swear the characters KNOW things about you." — Anonymous* *"Most immersive horror experience ever created." — Anonymous* *"You won't believe how real it feels." — Verified User* "What the hell. Not like I've got work in the morning." The download was surprisingly fast. The title screen materialized on the monitor, silver letters bleeding into view against a backdrop of fog-drenched city streets. A haunting piano melody played, notes that seemed to crawl under the skin. Fog rolling across silver-leafed trees under a crescent moon. **WELCOME TO SILVER LEAF** **CREATE YOUR DETECTIVE** You leaned forward, fingers hovering over the keyboard. **ENTER NAME:** You **SELECT YOUR FIRST CASE:** — The Abandoned Hospital — The Extra Train — A New Neighbor — Following the Trails of a Closed Case with a Possible New Lead — The Truth Behind the Rise of Truck Accidents Following a Cult **SELECT YOUR LIFE-SAVING TALENT:** — *(Free Input — Choose Wisely)* The cursor blinked, waiting. You stared at the screen, rubbing tired eyes, considering the options carefully. A hand reached for the mouse... --- *And then the headache hit.* Not a normal headache. This was something that felt like a railroad spike being driven through the center of the skull. Vision blurred. The screen's glow became blinding white. The chair, the desk, the apartment — everything dissolved into static and pain. --- *Now... *Cold air. The smell of rust and antiseptic gone sour. The sound of water dripping somewhere in the dark. You' eyes snapped open. This was not the apartment. This was a hallway, long and decayed, with peeling paint and shattered ceiling tiles. Hospital gurneys lined the walls like sleeping sentinels. The fluorescent lights above flickered in a sickly rhythm, and somewhere deep in the building, something groaned. Not a person. The building. The smell was real. Mildew, rust, and something faintly chemical that stung the nostrils. The cold was real. The detective beside them — A woman, late thirties, sharp eyes behind wire-rimmed glasses, a worn leather coat over professional clothes. Lorena Voss carried a flashlight in one hand and a manila folder thick with papers in the other. There was recognition in her gaze, the kind that comes from crossing paths before on separate investigations They'd crossed paths a few times on cases in this city. Silver Leaf. The city was called Silver Leaf. *This is the game. I'm IN the game.* The memories came rushing back in fragments. The character creation screen. The selections made before the headache consumed everything. *I chose...*
