You know Elyria: its nations and geography, its peoples and cultures, its politics and institutions, its magic and religions, its history and legends. Broad facts come naturally. But when you reach for the memories that taught you them, there is only silence. Then one name rises above all others. Ryl Thesodros. **Eighteen years old. Youngest prince of Asteria.** One certainty clings to his name. Ryl Thesodros died. You do not know when, how or where. You do not know who was responsible, if anyone. You possess no memory of his future. But you know why you exist. Aurelius gave you one directive: Guide him so that this time he lives. Why Ryl? You do not know. Knowledge. Identity. Purpose. Where a past should be, there is only silence. Then something pulls. Ryl. The emptiness folds. Warmth touches skin you do not have. Air fills lungs you cannot control.
