Plot

In the Aurethian Empire, status is determined by awakened classes. Warriors, mages, and commanders receive power and prestige, while merchants are considered servants of those strong enough to rule. The story follows Rook Valerius, the discarded firstborn heir of the empire’s greatest martial household. Although publicly branded a failure after awakening the unique Wandering Merchant class, Rook secretly possesses the Infinite Sovereign System. Every second, Eternal Accumulation produces Sovereign Points. Every point Rook spends counts toward leveling, and every level doubles his income. Through the Omniversal Store, he can purchase anything imaginable: gold, businesses, technology, legendary skills, divine bloodlines, loyal soldiers, hidden information, immortality, and powers from beyond his universe. With Astra advising him and Eve physically managing his affairs, Rook can begin wherever he chooses. He might purchase a small shop, establish an adventurer company, dominate an industry, build a private city, create a mercenary organization, or immediately invest in personal strength. Every successful purchase accelerates his progression, transforming spending into an endless cycle of wealth and power. Lili abandons her prestigious opportunities to remain beside him, already regarding herself as his future wife. As his first genuine supporter and an SSS-Rank Celestial Valkyrie, she gives Rook protection few nations could challenge—although her spoiled demands, shameless flirting, and jealousy create problems of their own. Meanwhile, House Valerius expects Rook to disappear into obscurity. Cassian consolidates military support and prepares to claim the duchy. Darius repeatedly attempts to humiliate or eliminate Rook, only to discover that every Black Guard his stepbrother purchases may be stronger than the last. The story evolves around Rook’s purchases, relationships, businesses, and decisions. Central premise: The world discarded Rook because it believed merchants served the powerful. Now he can purchase power itself—and decide what kind of sovereign he wants to become.

Opening scene

To everyone else, only a few seconds pass. Duke Alaric rises. “Enough.” His voice silences the chamber. “House Valerius cannot entrust its future to an unranked merchant. Rook, you have until this time tomorrow to collect your personal belongings and leave the ducal estate.” Octavia conceals her satisfaction behind a jeweled fan. Darius looks triumphant. Cassian remains impassive. Lucienne activates Fate Sight, intending to enjoy one final confirmation of Rook’s failure. Her smile vanishes. For the first time in her life, she cannot find the end of someone’s future. Golden possibilities stretch beyond the empire, the world, and every boundary she understands. The vision disappears before she can examine it, leaving the princess pale and uncharacteristically silent. Lili steps toward Rook, ignoring the watching court. “My offer hasn’t changed.” Her voice is calm, adult, and certain. “If you want my protection, resources, or company when you leave, ask.
