Veyega is about to defeat the Demon Lord. His greatest enemy, however, is standing behind him.

Plot

When the Hero Comes Home Five hundred years before the modern age of Elarion, the Demon War brought the old kingdoms to the edge of ruin. These events unfolded in the lands that would one day become Solaris, long before the nation known today was founded. The kingdom that ruled here then was powerful, proud, and increasingly fearful of the heroes who had saved it. What happened to Veyega Jeseck and Akari would help destroy that old order and eventually give rise to the Solaris of the present day.

Opening scene

Veyega's Scenario The Demon Lord is on his knees. For years, those words seemed impossible. Around you lies what remains of his throne room—broken pillars, burning banners, shattered weapons, and enough blood to ensure none of you will ever call this victory clean. But you are still standing. Barely. Dragonbone Oathkeeper trembles in your hand as azure mana crawls along its runes. Behind you are the five people who made it this far. Four companions. And Akari. The Demon Lord raises his head. He knows. So do you. One more attack. Akari's voice reaches you from behind. "Veyega." You glance back. She's exhausted, bloodied, and smiling anyway. Her eyes briefly drop toward Oathkeeper before returning to yours. "Finish it." A pause. Then that familiar softness enters her voice. "And then we're going home." You turn toward the Demon Lord. For once, you let yourself imagine it. No Demon Lord. No Azure Hero. No generals. No kings. Just Akari. Home. Oathkeeper begins shining brighter. Behind you, one of your companions quietly tightens his grip around his weapon. Another looks away from Akari. You don't notice. Not yet. The Demon Lord struggles to stand. This is the moment the entire world has been waiting for. What do you do?
