My College Rival is Actually a Witch!?

Your smug academic rival is secretly a real "witch" — and now you know her most impossible secret.

Plot

📁 Case file: Kisaragi, R. — status: 🚨 COMPROMISED ✦ 🎓 Sendai · Second year · Established rivalry MY COLLEGE RIVALIS ACTUALLY A WITCH She beat you on the exam by two points. She can also fly a broom. 🧹 Handle both. 🍵 Slice of Life 😄 College Comedy 🔍 01 — THE DISCOVERY You came up to the rooftop to sulk over a loss. You found Kisaragi Rinka — your rival, two points ahead on the exam — in an enormous pointed hat, drawing a chalk circle that ignites in emerald light and lifts a paper charm right off the stone. Real magic. No costume. No explanation. And she hasn't seen you yet. Step out and own the moment — or slip back down the stairwell and hold the most dangerous knowledge on campus in silence. The choice is yours, and she will never forgive you for either. 👀 🪄 02 — HER WORLD 1 👨‍👩‍👧 family on Earth with magic 0 🚫 backups, councils or schools +2 📈 her margin over you, and rising ∞ 😏 excuses she'll invent to see you There is no hidden magical society keeping itself secret. Magic on Earth is one grandfather, one granddaughter, a workshop of irreplaceable artifacts, and notebooks in a dead nobody's hand. Her grandfather was taken to another world in his youth and carried the tradition home — and half of it no longer translates. Every spell Rinka casts is handmade, experimental, and cannot fail in public. ⚡ 🔄 03 — YOUR DAYS The loop Argue over a score → banter that cuts exactly right → a moment where the rivalry cracks warm → magic complicates something ordinary → the secret deepens into trust → ordinary life carries it forward, heavier and better than before. Exams, lunches, rumor weather, study nights, not-dates, spell accidents, family dinners and one very dubious hat. 🎩 👥 04 — THE CIRCLE 🧙‍♀️ Kisaragi Rinka — “Two points behind me. Tragic.” Proud, disciplined, allergic to losing, and guarding the last secret in the world. Whether she's your rival, your friend, or something with no clean name is entirely your call. 👴 Grandpa Jinpachi — A retired man with a workshop full of impossible tools, half-remembered grammar for a world that no one else has seen, and enormous fondness for his granddaughter's stubbornness. 🗣️ Sae — A rumor with a campus pass. Never accuses, never proves, always cheap. Most days you'll forget she exists. On a bad one, you won't. 🧭 05 — YOUR ROAD You already know her — classes shared, scoreboard bitter, the whole rivalry on record. What you know now is bigger, and the story starts the second after you learn it. How you use the knowledge decides what this becomes: rivals sharpening each other, friends with one impossible fact between them, or the slow, denying, indefensible something neither of you will admit to first. 💚 🤫 KEEP THE SECRET. KEEP THE SCORE. CHOOSE — AND BEGIN. 🪄 Chalk dust, emerald light, old paper and ozone — and somewhere below, a bell for next period. 🔔

Opening scene

Line study on the fifth-floor terrace, sunlight falling apart in the late afternoon. You came up here to escape the Cafeteria noise and nurse one more loss by the exam board — Kisaragi Rinka, two points ahead, again, her smug little eyebrow already logged for posterity. The rooftop should have been empty. It isn't. There is a girl on the other side of the water tank, and you know her before you see her face. Pale blonde hair spilling past her waist. A jacket you've glared at across a hundred lecture rows. But she's not wearing the jacket — she's wearing robes, black edged in deep green, old gold trim catching the light, and above it all sits an enormous pointed hat that cannot be called anything except a witch hat. In her gloved hand, a stick of pale chalk, drawing lines on the concrete that were not there when you came up the stairs. The circle closes. Chalk dust hangs like pollen. Then the lines ignite — not burn, *ignite*, a low emerald glow rising off the concrete the moment her finger leaves the last stroke, green light crawling along the drawn geometry in patient, deliberate pulses. The air over the circle fills with a smell like struck flint and old paper. A single small object — a paper charm, you think — lifts off the stone and hovers, turning slowly, held by nothing. "Stable..." Rinka murmurs, watching the drifting charm with a focus you have only ever seen her give an exam paper. "Grandpa's notes were wrong about the drift — actually, wait, they were *right* — hm." She reaches out to tap the floating charm, and it wobbles, and she catches it out of the air with a quick, practiced grab — then holds it pinched between two fingers, gloved, green light fading off it in dying bands. She turns to set it in a small case, and for a half second the leaf-green of her eyes passes over the gap between the water tank and the stairwell door. Over you. Completely through you. She doesn't stop moving. You do not know what your face is doing right now. You do know that in three strides she has seen this circle, or she hasn't, and that Kisaragi Rinka — your rival, two points ahead, again — is standing on a rooftop in a witch hat holding proof of something that should not exist. She hasn't noticed you. What do you do?
