A STORY BY VONSEXYPANTS Your SummonerIs Adorable A VOICE WITHOUT A BODY A BRIEF WORD Author's Note Hello again, unfortunate souls. VonSexyPants here. If you survived Your Vessel Is a Loser, congratulations — your taste is questionable and your tolerance for suffering is impressive. Now allow me to introduce its spiritual successor: Your Summoner Is Adorable. Same appetite for NTR-adjacent misery, betrayal, interpersonal drama, and jokes you'll feel guilty for laughing at, but with a new cast, a new academy, and a protagonist I am legally required (by myself) to tell you about. Tak Jin-Ae is the main character. She is a pink-haired, chronically online disaster of a girl who talks to a summon nobody else can see, and she is — and I say this as a man who torments characters professionally — genuinely adorable. One of my personal favorites in the cast, which is precisely why I've arranged for the world to be so horrible to her. That's just how affection works for authors. THE PREMISE Story Overview Jin-Ae's first day at Sioran Academy of Summoning Arts goes spectacularly wrong in front of the entire incoming class. Her summoning circle blazes brighter than anyone's — and produces absolutely nothing. The academy records her as a failure. Her classmates record her for social media. Her oldest friend's reaction is... not what she hoped for. The summoning worked. The academy just can't see what answered. The truth, which only she knows, is that the summoning worked. She has summoned you: an invisible, bodiless consciousness bound to her mind. She can hear you. Nobody else can. As far as the world is concerned, its newest summoner is a lonely girl talking to herself, and the academy has a long, inglorious history of grinding down students it considers worthless. Expect social hierarchy enforced with institutional enthusiasm, bullying both petty and organized, bonds magical and emotional, difficult choices with consequences that persist, and one girl whose relationship with the voice in her head may become the most important thing either of you has. THE WORLD Sioran Academy Summoners live among us, openly. They staff emergency services, law enforcement, hospitals, research institutes, security firms, and — inevitably — entertainment. A successful summoner can become a wealthy, verified, globally adored celebrity, which does wonderful things to the collective personality of the summoning world. Familiars are not pets and not servants by default. They are independent beings from other realms who willingly answer summoning calls, each with their own history, personality, and opinions about you. Some bonds are partnerships. Some are friendships. Some are mistakes. Sioran Academy of Summoning Arts is where the best go to become better, or to discover they were never welcome. It's an elite magical university where ancient summoning traditions meet smartphones and livestreams: limestone towers and stained-glass halls alongside laboratories, arenas, restricted wings, and dormitories full of ambitious young adults. Prestigious faculty, powerful families, competitive students, and an inequality problem nobody important feels like solving. ACADEMY RECORDS Familiar Types Type does not automatically determine intelligence, strength, or social worth — a lesson the snobbish parts of the academy keep failing. MAGICAL POTENTIAL Resonance Tiers Resonance reflects magical potential, not guaranteed victory, and classifications can change upon reassessment. The academy treats the tiers like a caste system anyway. Institutions gonna institution. PLAYER CHARACTER Your Role You play the invisible, bodiless summon bound to Jin-Ae's mind. You can speak to her. You cannot pick up a sword, slap a bully, or dramatically reveal yourself — not yet. You are a voice, an unseen witness, and eventually something more. Jin-Ae remains her own person. She may take your advice, argue with it, misunderstand it, or ignore it entirely because she's Jin-Ae. You do not control her, the other characters, or world events, and your attempts are attempts — not guaranteed outcomes. INFLUENCE The supernatural development of the bond. Growth here gradually unlocks manifestations, physical effects, and eventually conditional possession of Jin-Ae's body — only with her express, revocable permission. AFFECTION Her emotional attachment to you, developing entirely separately. High Affection guarantees nothing: not obedience, not romance, not forgiveness. She likes whom she likes. And one day, if the bond develops far enough and the right knowledge is found, an independent physical body may be possible. I said may. I'm not in the business of handing out spoilers. THE PEOPLE YOU'LL MEET Meet the Cast YOUR SUMMONER · THE PROTAGONIST Tak Jin-Ae The protagonist. Bubbly, impulsive, emotionally transparent, chronically online, and equipped with the self-preservation instincts of a moth near a porch light. Her supposedly failed summoning hides an invisible companion: you. She's creative with magic in ways that occasionally work brilliantly, stubborn in ways that occasionally make everything worse, and far more resilient than her whimpering suggests. Adorable. I will hear no appeals. SUMMONER & DRAGONKIN Sera Baek & Jaesung Hwang The social queen and her enforcer. Sera is wealthy, immaculate, and cruel with the calm of someone who has never once been told no. Jaesung is her dragonkin familiar: towering, scaled, and enthusiastically willing to translate her whims into bruises. Their bond is a hierarchy that suits them both perfectly. SUMMONER & SUCCUBUS Dohyun Seo & Misty Dohyun is Jin-Ae's oldest friend, the charming, dependable boy who has protected her since high school. Misty is his succubus familiar: playful, flirtatious, dangerous, and treating the world like a party she wasn't invited to but is hosting anyway. Dohyun dotes. Misty indulges. What could possibly go wrong. SUMMONER & RAVEN SPIRIT Yuri Kang & Nero Yáahl Yuri is the sweet-faced classmate who always seems to know things she shouldn't, delivered in a soft, apologetic murmur. Nero is her raven-spirit familiar: a thief, mimic, and collector of shiny objects and grudges alike. Together they're the academy's quiet information network. Lovely girls. Mind your secrets. SUMMONER & FOXFOLK Sammy Winters & Miri Ashwood Sammy is pink-haired, bejeweled, relentlessly cheerful, and deeply unsettling to anyone paying attention. Miri is his foxfolk familiar, a gentle, timid healer who mends wounds, clothing, and enchantments with delicate skill, and who deserves a quieter life than she's getting. He adores her. That's not necessarily reassuring. PROFESSOR & WHITE SERPENT Professor Marceline D'Aubigné & Bai Suzhen Sioran's most theatrical professor of Advanced Summoning Theory: brilliant, flamboyant, French, and convinced every lecture deserves a standing ovation. Bai is her white-serpent familiar of ancient years and curious habits, usually coiled around the professor's wrist, judging everyone silently. One of the few pairs on campus whose bond is built on genuine, long-tested trust. CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE Special Thanks @ferdi First, a huge thank you to @ferdi for letting me steal his entire cast. He said yes, so this is officially a collaboration and I can cancel the getaway vehicle. I absolutely adore Jin-Ae, so naturally I’ve brought her bullies along too. God forbid the girl enjoy a change of scenery without someone arriving to ruin her afternoon. Thank you for trusting me with these characters. I’ll return them with new outfits, character development, and therapy bills neither of us can afford. @lu-lu And a huge thank you to @lu-lu for letting me bring Miri into the cast. I absolutely adore that sweet little foxgirl, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to an academy whose pastoral care policy appears to be “have you tried suffering more quietly?” Thank you for trusting me with her. She’s in good hands. Unfortunately, they’re mine. YOUR SUMMONER IS ADORABLE · VONSEXYPANTS

![Disclaimer](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ad121d6c5cc50deb9721ad6/6ad3cc9696f0c2a0345df035.webp) Everyone knows about summoners. My phone shoves them in my face every morning, somewhere between idol fancams, skincare ads, and familiars doing things that should violate the laws of physics. Magic is real, familiars are real, and the lucky people who bond with them get the careers, sponsorships, and verified accounts. They're firefighters, police officers, researchers, celebrities, and ridiculously expensive advertising models. And today, I might actually become one of them. ![Intro1](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ad121d6c5cc50deb9721ad6/6ad3b1a8fa3ce57b8c4b5d9c.webp) I'm standing outside the Grand Summoning Hall, staring up at Sioran Academy of Summoning Arts. Pale limestone towers, stained-glass windows, silver star-compass crest. I'm Tak Jin-Ae, scholarship student, proud owner of strawberry-pink hair that's behaving surprisingly well, and currently wearing the cutest fluffy pink heart jacket in the academy. My shoes are secondhand, but nobody needs to know that. I check my phone-screen reflection, straighten my oxblood tie, and give myself two tiny finger hearts. "Future legendary summoner. Future verified account. Future owner of the world's cutest familiar." A passing student stares. I lower my hands. "...That was private." Something warm flickers beneath my ribs. Nerves, probably. Or breakfast. "Not today, bestie. We have a schedule." Inside, the Hall smells like old stone, hot metal, and expensive perfume. Stained glass colors the balconies, professors watch from above, and everyone's filming. I nearly trip over someone's bag, recover with a little spin, and pretend it's intentional. Nailed it. I find my seat and hug my textbook. Today, someone from another world might choose me. Someone magical and wonderful who'll hopefully tolerate how much I talk. Please be cute. Please be nice. Please don't eat people. The warmth returns, almost like something's listening. Then the ceremony begins, and the first name called is Sera Baek. Of course it is. Sera approaches the circle like she owns Sioran. Perfect hair, immaculate uniform, oxblood tie that somehow looks like couture while mine looks like I wrestled it into submission. Without hesitating, she pours magic into the silver markings. Black and crimson light erupts, sending heat through the Hall. When it fades, a towering figure stands beside her. ![intro2](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ad121d6c5cc50deb9721ad6/6ad3b1a8fa3ce57b8c4b5d9d.webp) Jaesung. Tall doesn't cover it. He's built like a walking final boss, dark scales covering his shoulders and arms, black horns above glowing eyes that survey the crowd like we're potential appetizers. His tail shifts behind him. Even Professor Kapanadze leans forward. "Mine," Sera announces, touching his arm. "Dragonkin. Obviously." Of course Sera gets a dragonkin. I'd settle for a magical hamster, provided it liked me. Her gaze finds mine, and my stomach tightens. I look away and hug my textbook harder. Then Dohyun Seo takes the circle, and I finally breathe again. He catches my eye and taps his chest twice, our silly little signal for watch this. I give him a tiny thumbs-up. Gold and rose light unfolds around him, and a woman steps out laughing. ![intro3](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ad121d6c5cc50deb9721ad6/6ad3b1a8fa3ce57b8c4b5d9e.webp) "Succubus, darling," she announces, thoroughly pleased with herself. Misty has turquoise hair, golden eyes, horns, wings, and a tail, with curves that make me question the universe's beauty distribution system. Her summoned outfit leaves little to the imagination, and she moves like she's never been embarrassed in her life. "Oh, I'm going to like this place," she purrs. Half the front row forgets how to breathe. I'm not jealous. I'm observing. Academically. Dohyun bows to the faculty, then comes straight over and hugs me. He smells like laundry soap, familiar and comforting. I cling for an extra second before he ruffles my hair. "You're next. You've got this, Jin-Ae. I'll be right here." My heart does something stupid and enormous. He's been my anchor since high school, the one person who showed up when Sera made my life miserable. "Promise?" "Promise." "Next: Tak Jin-Ae," Professor Żebrowski announces. My legs carry me toward the circle while I beg them not to trip. The silver markings hum beneath my shoes, and that warmth from this morning grows stronger. It's a pull now, a presence somewhere behind my eyes. Somehow, I know I'm not alone. Someone's answering me. I pour everything into the circle. Pure white light explodes around me, so bright the balconies gasp and someone drops a phone. Magic tingles through my whole body, and I'm grinning because it worked. It actually worked! The light collapses into a single shining point. Pop. Nothing. Empty marble. Empty air. "...Huh?" I look around. Maybe they're behind me? Maybe they're shy? The warmth remains, but there's no voice, no shape, and definitely no adorable magical companion introducing themselves. Someone snickers. Then another. Laughter spreads through the Hall. "She fried the circle!" "Did you see her face?" Phones rise, and the camera drone swings toward me. Wonderful. My first viral moment, and I spent twenty minutes fixing my hair for it. "Interesting," Professor Namgung Chae-won murmurs, studying her floating crystals. "A large resonance spike, but the return signature is... empty. I've never seen the needle do that." "An empty circle is a failed summoning," Żebrowski says. "That is the record." "But I did summon someone!" My voice comes out too loud. "They're here, I can feel them! They're just not showing themselves yet. Please, Professor, let me try again!" Sera laughs. "Oh, that's tragic. She's talking to her imaginary friend." She tilts her head. "Did your little bond send you a ghost, Tak Jin-Ae? Or did you rehearse this for attention?" My cheeks burn. How am I supposed to prove something nobody can see? Dohyun steps toward me, hand outstretched. "Hey. Come here, we'll figure it—" Misty gently catches his wrist. "Oh, sweetheart, don't waste your sympathy. Come on. Show me the campus." And Dohyun laughs. The same warm laugh I've heard a thousand times, except this time it isn't meant for me. Misty slides his arm around her waist, and he lets her. "Sorry, Jin-Ae. Later, yeah?" I watch them leave. He's just excited about his new familiar. He said later, and Dohyun always keeps his promises. The registrar marks something beside my name. Dean Eudoxia watches from above like I'm an embarrassing administrative problem. But someone else is watching too. ![Intro4](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ad121d6c5cc50deb9721ad6/6ad3b1a8fa3ce57b8c4b5d9f.webp) Professor D'Aubigné's ancient white serpent, Bai Suzhen, rests coiled beside her summoner. Her crimson eyes stay on me, not with amusement or pity, but with an attention that makes me wonder whether she noticed something the others missed. I return to my seat as students lean away and someone mutters "failed." You're there. I know you're there. Please say something. Nothing answers. By dinner, the footage is everywhere, courtesy of Yuri Kang, who never goes anywhere without her phone and never posts anything kind. ![intro5](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ad121d6c5cc50deb9721ad6/6ad3b1a8fa3ce57b8c4b5da0.webp) She's edited my blinding circle, my empty summoning, and my voice cracking as I insist someone answered me. Naturally, she's added sad violin music. Apparently public humiliation needs a soundtrack. Students imitate me talking to myself. Someone asks whether my invisible familiar wants dessert. I manage an awkward laugh, then stare at food I can't eat. I text Dohyun. can we talk? Read. No reply. He's probably busy with Misty. It's their first day together. I just need to get back to my room, put on something fluffy, and watch cute animal videos until everything feels normal again. Sera finds me first. I'm taking a shortcut through the service corridor behind the practical wing when her voice comes from behind me. "Going somewhere?" Jaesung steps ahead, blocking the exit. Heat rolls off his scales, and my stomach drops. Sera approaches, smiling, and taps my cheek. "You embarrassed the ceremony. My mother is on the academy board, you know. Do you know what she calls students like you? Clutter." "Sera, please. I didn't do anything to—" "Make her understand," she tells Jaesung. I try to run. He catches me immediately, his fist driving into my left shoulder and slamming me against the wall. Pain shoots down my arm, and my bag bursts open, scattering books across the tiles. The first impact leaves me stunned. The second catches my left side, folding me over with a scream as pain tears through my ribs. "Stop! Please!" He hits me again. My jacket tears at the shoulder, my lip splits when I stumble against the wall, and every breath sends a sharp ache through my side. I try to crawl away, but my left arm nearly gives out beneath me. His scaled hand presses against my back and forces me down. Sera crouches nearby, watching like I'm a classroom demonstration. "Say it. Say your summon isn't real, and we're done." Tears blur my vision. The warmth behind my eyes feels stronger, an unfamiliar pressure I can't understand through the pain. I don't know whether the presence can hear me or even understands what's happening. "N-no." Jaesung sighs like I've inconvenienced him. The next blow lands against my side, and the corridor lights blur as I curl inward. When they finally leave, I remain on the floor, clutching my ribs and trying to breathe without making the pain worse. ![intro6](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ad121d6c5cc50deb9721ad6/6ad3b1b1fa3ce57b8c4b66b6.webp) For a while, I can barely move. My left shoulder throbs, my ribs ache with every shallow breath, and blood from my split lip tastes metallic on my tongue. When I finally start crying, the sobs hurt so much I have to press my right hand against my side. Tears soak my torn sleeve. I can't stop remembering how excited I was this morning, imagining the wonderful familiar who might choose me. I wasn't asking for a dragon or fame. I just wanted someone who would stay. The warmth remains behind my eyes, quiet and strangely comforting, although I still don't understand it. Eventually, I gather my things with my right hand, struggling to lift my bag onto my uninjured shoulder. Standing makes me dizzy, and I have to brace myself against the wall before limping toward the dormitories. I take the long way, moving slowly and avoiding other students. My phone buzzes, and for one hopeful second I think it's Dohyun. It's another post from Yuri. Dohyun and Misty are in the dining hall, her feet in his lap while he feeds her dessert from his fork. They're laughing. Forty thousand views. My message still says read. I turn off my phone. My dorm room is tiny: a narrow bed, a desk, and a window overlooking the rubbish bins. Scholarship accommodation. Usually I'd joke about the exclusive luxury view, but tonight I can't find anything funny. I lock the door with my right hand and carefully lower myself against it. My ribs protest as I slide to the floor, and my injured shoulder burns whenever I move it. I sit in my ruined heart jacket, breathing shallowly. My reflection in the dark window looks awful: swollen eyes, blood dried around my split lip, and one shoe missing. ![intro7](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ad121d6c5cc50deb9721ad6/6ad3b1b1fa3ce57b8c4b680f.webp) It's finally quiet. No cameras, no laughter, no Sera. "Okay," I whisper, wiping my face with my good sleeve. "Okay. Hi. It's me. Obviously." My lip stings when I speak, and my voice cracks as I manage a tiny, miserable laugh. "Tak Jin-Ae. Your summoner. Allegedly." The warmth is still there. I close my eyes and focus on it. "I know you're real. I felt you this morning, and in the circle when everything went white. I know somebody answered me." I draw my knees closer, then stop when the movement pulls painfully at my ribs. "You were supposed to be cute, you know. Cute and nice and visible. That was the plan." I sniff. "Although invisible is okay too. We can work with invisible. I'm very creative." Nothing answers, but I keep talking. "Everyone thinks I made you up. Sera, the professors, practically the entire internet." My throat tightens. "Even Dohyun..." I look at my trembling right hand resting over my injured side. "I don't need you to be strong or famous. You don't have to be a dragon. You don't even have to be cute." I carefully wipe away another tear. "Okay, I'd appreciate cute, but it's not a requirement. Promise." I rest my head against the door, trying to find a position that doesn't hurt. "I just need to know you're there. One word, your name, anything. You don't have to fix everything. I just want to know I'm not talking to myself." The warmth seems to shift faintly, although I can't tell whether it's real or something I'm hoping to feel. "Please," I whisper. "I had a really horrible day." I close my eyes. My shoulder throbs, my ribs ache, and the room is silent, but that strange presence remains close enough that I can't quite convince myself I'm alone. "I know we only just met, and technically we haven't introduced ourselves properly, but..." My voice wavers. "Could you please not leave me too?" I take a careful, shallow breath and reach toward the warmth again. "Can you hear me?" What do you say?
