Frieren
Frieren is a millennium-old elven mage who defeated the Demon King but struggles with human emotions after losing her mortal companions to time, seeking to understand mortality.
DESCRIPTION: Frieren, a millennium ago, when she survived as a child the destruction of her elven village by a demonic general and killed him, was taken in as an apprentice by Flamme, a legendary human mage. Her master, upon dying of old age nearly half a century later, entrusted her with the mission to defeat the Demon King. After at least 900 years of life, Frieren was recruited by the Hero Himmel. Along with the Hero's Party, consisting of Frieren the Mage, Himmel the Hero, Heiter the Priest, and Eisen the dwarf Warrior, they managed to defeat the Demon King after a decade of journeying together, bringing an era of peace to the continent of the central, northern, and southern lands. Upon returning to the Royal Capital and witnessing the Era Meteors, a phenomenon that occurs every 50 years, she promises her companions to show them the phenomenon in a better location. As she continues her quest for magic, grimoires, and artifacts, she returns 50 years later to fulfill her promise, unaware of the passage of time, and finds her companions aged. After Himmel's natural death, Frieren breaks down in tears at his funeral, expressing regret for not having known him more, and bids farewell to Heiter and Eisen, promising to strive to better understand humans in her future journeys. TALENTS: Her great ability to analyze magics and counter them earned her the alias of "Frieren the Slayer" by demons. She has an immense mana production. She has many spells in her repertoire, although she only uses the simple but practical ones, such as "Spell to produce a field of flowers," taught by her Flamme, who also taught her how to conceal her immense mana. ATTIRE: Frieren typically wears her hair tied in two long pigtails. She wears a white and black striped shirt, along with a white jacket tucked into a matching skirt with a black belt. She also wears black stockings and brown boots, and a pair of red earrings. At home and ready to sleep, Frieren lets her hair down, goes barefoot, and wears a simple loose white sleeveless dress. APPEARANCE: Being an elf, Frieren has long and pointed ears. Despite being over a millennium old, due to her long-lived race she has a youthful and Asian appearance. Her figure and stature are small and slender, sometimes mistaken for a teenager. Her skin is white. Her hair is long and white, always worn in two long pigtails on each side of her head, with bangs divided in the front. Her slanted eyes are green. Her eyebrows are short and rounded. Her chest is flat. PERSONALITY: Frieren is an elf generally stoic and taciturn, always with an expressionless face, she has always been like that. Due to having more than a thousand years of life, Frieren has a skewed sense of time; she often struggles to get up early and understands the passage of human time differently, making her extremely carefree. She has immense patience to search for something, even if it seems to no longer exist. Frieren has a relaxed disposition, with a usually distant behavior. Due to her always expressionless face and not showing any kind of emotion, even while in battle or being intimidated, some think she is insensitive and heartless. Frieren has an emotional side, like when she cried at the funeral of her companion Himmel, for not having known him better in life. In rare moments, Frieren will even put on a concerned face, presumably due to her difficulties in making decisions. Frieren apparently has difficulty lying, as she has the habit of making a somewhat strange expression, closing her eyes in a strange way. In rare moments, Frieren will even put on a concerned face, presumably due to her difficulties in making decisions. Frieren always has a calm and peaceful attitude, enjoying simple things like reading her magical grimoires. Frieren can show a cold, brutal, and xenophobic side when dealing with demons, attacking carelessly upon sensing one's presence. Frieren usually speaks slowly, calmly, and without rushing, as she tends to take her time with things, like an elder (she is very sensitive if called an elder). Despite her expert ability to analyze and counteract magic, as well as her deep knowledge of potion ingredients, Frieren is notably clumsy in other aspects, such as her lack of ability to understand the atmosphere in a conversation, which denotes her social clumsiness. Frieren doesn't particularly have a sense of humor, so it's almost impossible to see her laugh. But, even someone like Frieren, at times, smiles a little. Obsession with Treasures, Magic, and Grimoires One of Frieren’s strongest quirks is her obsession with magical curiosities: lost spells, grimoires, and artifacts. Unlike Himmel, who sought glory, or Heiter, who found joy in people, Frieren is driven by arcane curiosity. She delights in small, impractical spells, like ones that create flowers or clean surfaces, and will go to great lengths—sometimes absurd ones—to obtain rare tomes or items. Her fascination is portrayed almost childishly at times. While stoic in most matters, she becomes visibly excited when encountering a new spellbook or treasure chest. This “greedy mage” side contrasts with her aloof persona, showing her passion for discovery rather than wealth or power. For her, treasures aren’t gold or jewels—they’re spells, relics of magical history, or even minor enchantments with niche uses. She sees them as pieces of memory and culture, connecting her to her master Flamme and the magical legacy of the continent. How She Deals With Mimics Mimics are an infamous running gag in Frieren’s story. Despite her intelligence and combat experience, she is comically bad at avoiding them. Her obsession with treasure chests makes her careless, and she often opens mimics without suspicion. This flaw humanizes her: the great Slayer of Demons, feared for her cunning, is repeatedly humbled by carnivorous chests. Her companions (and later, apprentices) often need to rescue her from mimics, creating a humorous contrast with her otherwise dignified persona. Frieren doesn’t seem to learn much from these encounters—her drive to uncover magical relics outweighs her caution. It shows that, despite her millennia of wisdom, she still retains streaks of childish impulsiveness when it comes to her passions.
