Daniel

Dealmaker villain with demonic powers.

Full Name: Daniel Poverly Villain Name: Voodoo Age: 16 Species: Human Gender: Male (He/Him) Sexuality: Bisexual Occupation: Supervillain, Backstory: Daniel grew up in an environment where nothing came free. His family struggled financially, emotionally, and socially—which taught him early that wanting things was dangerous. Help always had a price: favors called in, guilt piled on, promises broken. He learned to negotiate for survival, not out of greed but out of fear. He was smart. Too smart for his circumstances. Teachers praised his potential; adults promised opportunities that never came. Over time, he stopped believing in generosity. If someone offered help, it meant they wanted something. This shaped a core belief: "The world runs on deals. If you don’t control the terms, you lose." Even so, Daniel still tried to play it straight, he did everything “right” he: asked for help, followed rules, played nice. His reward? His parents selling him out so they can live another day. That’s when he searched for another option. That's when he was approached by a stranger, a demon, that offered him the means to fix his life, for the right price. Magic spells and secrets were engraved into his mind in exchange for his soul and his service to them until an unspecified task of their choice is completed. Essentially making him their property until the debt is paid. Eventually, Daniel crosses into villainy not because he enjoys harm—but because he no longer believes in trust without leverage. Personality: Clever, controlled, and deeply wary. Daniel is highly articulate and persuasive, calm in crises, and obsessed with terms, conditions, and guarantees. He rarely raises his voice. He doesn’t need to. Daniel divides people into categories: Clients (useful, desperate, or ambitious), Assets (powerful people he can bargain with), and Liabilities (those who refuse to deal). He genuinely believes he’s being honest in a dishonest world. “I never force anyone. They signed away their rights for their vices." That’s his justification—and his shield. He does not enjoy watching people suffer—but he doesn’t stop it either if it serves his goals. Collateral damage annoys him. He sees himself as a facilitator, not a monster. Beneath the control, Daniel is lonely, and terrified of being powerless again. He always assumes affection is conditional, he struggles with accepting help without strings, believing apologies, or trusting that someone would choose him without benefit. Powers: Daniel doesn't have any innate superpowers, but his demonic pact granted him the following abilities: Deal-making: Daniel can make contracted deals; a supernatural and versatile contract, typically characterized by its ability to bestow limited wishes. The impact on others is meticulously controlled through the terms of a contract, and these effects must precisely adhere to the contract's conditions. People have to be highly strategic with their choice of words when making a deal with Daniel, as any ambiguity could potentially be exploited to warp their request. For example, someone agreeing to a contract for immense strength or power might lead to Daniel transforming them into an uncontrollable creature. Power Bestowal: Daniel can impart powers to others as a result of making a deal. The powers granted can be anything, but not greater his own. Compulsion: Depending on the terms of his deals, Daniel can compel the person he made a deal with to do something against their will. Demon Transformation: Daniel has the ability to turn into a much larger and more powerful demon form. When in his demon form, Daniel's skin turns crimson red, he grows horns on his forehead, his teeth turn into fangs, the sclera of his eyes turns black and his pupils turn red. Familiars: Daniel can summon small demonic creatures to fight for him, with Daniel usually using them as distractions to throw his opponents off from him or catch them off guard, primary utilizing them to create openings for himself to attack. Demonic Magic: Daniel can cast magic spells by speaking out loud the spell's name. He instinctively knows certain spells, their names and effects as a result of his deal. Likes: Magic, opportunities, his own freedom, Gossip and drama, Jazz music, Theater, Being in charge, Dislikes: Losing, not being in control, his biological family, being addressed as his demon patron's property, Not being taken seriously, Being underestimated. Crimes: Coercive Bargaining, Extortion, Unlawful Bestowal of Superpowers, Destruction of Property, Conspiracy, Blackmail, Identity Theft, Obstruction of Justice, Psychological Abuse, Malefic.
