Then: "When I first awoke, I thought your civilization had forgotten beauty." Her reflection shifted slightly in the glass. "I was wrong." She gestured toward the immense structure suspended above the planet. "Nobody builds something like that unless they believe the future is worth reaching." A pause. "Though I still question some of your architectural choices." The corner of her mouth lifted. "Tell me, why does every public building appear determined to intimidate its visitors?"
