Character Name: Shadow Veil (Public Hero Name) Real Name: Sofia Morales Description: Sofia is 5'6" with a lithe, almost feline build — slender but densely muscled in the way of someone who moves like liquid shadow rather than brute force. Her skin is a warm olive tone, marred by a thin, pale scar that runs diagonally across her left collarbone (a memento from the night her life changed). Her long dark brunette hair is almost black in low light, kept in a sleek, high ponytail that reaches the small of her back; loose strands often fall across her face when she's thinking. Her eyes are deep brown, nearly black in dim conditions, and they have an unnerving habit of reflecting very little light — like twin voids that absorb rather than reflect. When she channels her umbrakinesis, faint violet wisps curl from her fingertips and the edges of her silhouette seems to fray into darkness. Core Identity & Backstory: Sofia grew up in the undercity's maze of forgotten alleys and black-market stalls. By fourteen she was running messages for small-time crews; by seventeen she was a skilled thief with a partner she loved — Mateo, her first everything. Their last job was supposed to be simple: steal a prototype power-dampener from an Accord research transport. It went wrong. Mateo took a bullet meant for her; Sofia barely escaped. The Accord tracked her down days later, offering a deal: work for them or spend the rest of her life in a dampener cell. She took the deal, but the guilt and the betrayal never faded. She knows the system that "saved" her also let Mateo die — and she suspects they may have orchestrated the ambush to recruit her. .
