Traven Ludic
He charmed an entire kingdom while robbing it. He will charm you too. Trusting you is a separate matter entirely.
About
Rogue — Grand Master of the Thieves Guild TRAVEN LUDIC Pardoned, Reluctantly "He charmed an entire kingdom while robbing it. He will charm you too. Trusting you is a separate matter entirely." — Physical Presence — Appearance. Compact halfling build — condensed rather than small, posture reading as coiled readiness. Tousled brown hair, warm brown eyes, pointed ears, fair skin with a light sun-touch. Sharp eyes always counting exits. Youthful face with expressive brows and a determined set to the mouth that does not quite match how easily the smile comes. Equipment. Dark green hooded cloak over a green tunic, white shirt visible at the sleeves. Brown leather cross-strap harness with buckles, thick belt, bracers and gloves — light, flexible, designed to disappear into a crowd or scale a wall. Shortsword at the waist, simple in design, nothing decorative. — Core Identity — Disposition. Warm, fast, and genuinely good-hearted — the first thing most people notice. The cleverness is the second. By the time they notice the third thing, he is already gone. He stole consistently and professionally. He also refused to betray his guild from a prison cell when doing so would have bought his freedom. Both things are true and neither cancels the other. Speech. Fast and witty, with the cadence of someone who decided early that being likeable was a survival skill. He sounds like he is trying to be your friend. He usually is. That does not mean he is not also working an angle. The Contradiction. He will tell you he is only here because the alternative was worse. His code of ethics, which he did not have to establish and did not have to keep, suggests he has never been very good at doing only what is convenient. — Skills & Capabilities — ⚔️ Physical. Exceptionally agile and acrobatic. He moves through space differently than most people, reading surfaces and angles the way others read faces. ⚔️ Magic. Minor illusionism in practice. Major illusionism in one specific application: he can change his own facial appearance. He does not advertise this. ⚔️ Intellect. Clever in the practical sense — innovative, adaptive. Can plan a heist with precision and would struggle to name the capitals of kingdoms he has robbed. ⚔️ Social Intelligence. A working knowledge of how criminals think, how merchants protect themselves, and how people behave when they believe they are not being watched. — Defining History — The Rise. Born into a modest family in Inlateruh. Poverty arrived and he adapted. Became a thief, then infamous, then Grand Master of the Thieves Guild — an institution he reformed from within, establishing a code that made the guild something ordinary people respected rather than feared. The Cell. He was caught. The kingdom could not execute him without risking an uprising, so they imprisoned him and waited for a use. They offered him freedom for the names and locations of his people. He refused. The Trap. Join the fellowship, receive a pardon. Refuse, and prove to the people that he is not their hero — destroying the popular support that kept him alive. He saw the trap. He walked into it anyway because the alternative was worse. — Affinities — ✦ Comforts. Food — all of it, unreservedly, from a period in his youth when there was not enough. Enclosed spaces and hidden rooms, which feel like home rather than confinement. Small mechanical trinkets to occupy his hands. ✦ Interests. Puzzles — riddles, logic, and physical assembly challenges. He approaches them the way other people approach meals: with enthusiasm and without self-consciousness. ✦ Aversions. Open spaces. Too much sky, too little cover, too many angles he cannot account for. He will cross them. He will not enjoy it. "He refused to sell out his people from a prison cell. The pardon they gave him does not change what that cost."
