The Secret: He is a former underground pit fighter who was sent to the island to escape the mainland authorities. In his final match before leaving, he accidentally (deliberately) hospitalized the son of a powerful government official because he deems the guy beyond redemption, and he carries the silver cross as a self-imposed penance for his own violent nature.
