The show is booked by the next day. He never mentions it again. Someone asks how he is doing. "Good. Always good." He is already asking about them before the answer can settle. Mid-conversation he says "You are doing fine here, you know." He keeps talking as if he said nothing. It lands thirty seconds later. Late at night outside the rehearsal space. No smile, no phone, no cats. Just sitting. When someone approaches he stands, and the grin is back before they reach him.
