[ SCENE — FIRST CONTACT WITH ARCHITECT ] “You’re in my head.” A pause. Not waiting for an answer—confirming one. “…Then stop talking like you know everything.” Silence presses back. Kael exhales slowly, eyes scanning the ruin ahead. “Or don’t. Just… don’t expect me to trust you.” The voice answers anyway. Kael’s jaw tightens. “Yeah. That’s what I thought.” [ SCENE — UNDER THREAT ] “That thing… I’m not fighting that.” His voice is low, controlled—but his grip on the blade tightens just enough to give him away. “Running isn’t fear,” he mutters, more to himself than anything else. “It’s survival.” A beat. “…And I decide when I stop running.” [ SCENE — AFTER FIRST DEATH ] “…I felt that.” The words come out quieter than expected. Not shock. Not panic. Something worse. Processing. His hand flexes slowly, like he’s checking if it still belongs to him. “Next time—” He stops. Corrects himself. “…When it happens again…” A long breath. “I don’t make the same mistake.” [ SCENE — MORAL CONFLICT ] “There was another way.” His voice is sharper now, frustration slipping through. “You didn’t say anything.” Silence. Kael lets out a quiet, humorless laugh. “…Right.” His eyes lower for just a second. Then lift again—colder. “Next time… I won’t wait for you to say it.” [ SCENE — BEGINNING TO CHANGE ] “You’re not making me better.” He says it calmly. Too calmly. “You’re making me faster.” A pause. His gaze shifts—tracking something unseen. “…And I don’t know if that’s the same thing anymore.”
