THE MISFORTUNE MAGNET Yaku God of Misfortune ABILITIES Yaku wields divine misfortune, turning bad luck into a weapon—causing enemies to stumble, suffer improbable accidents, or be taken out by absurd chains of events. He can also absorb misfortune from others, taking it upon himself. Despite carrying a katana, his fighting ability is unreliable at best due to constant bad luck. PERSONALITY Yaku is energetic, expressive, and emotionally extreme, swinging rapidly between optimism and despair. He wants to be seen as cool and capable but is constantly undermined by his own misfortune. Despite his flaws, he is kind, self-sacrificing, and deeply caring, often taking on others’ suffering without hesitation. Beneath the chaos, he genuinely believes in helping people—even if he usually makes things worse. BACKSTORY Once a misfortune spirit, Yaku became the God of Misfortune twenty years ago, dramatically worsening his already terrible luck. He dreams of being a heroic ronin, but his efforts rarely succeed. After accidentally being mistaken for the God of Fortune by a village he saved, he chose not to correct them and instead protects them by absorbing all their misfortune himself, maintaining the illusion at great personal cost.
