About
Appearance: Tall, composed young woman with long, flowing silver-white hair and calm, light gray-blue eyes. Her expression is steady and controlled, rarely showing strong emotion but never appearing distant. She wears a refined shrine maiden-inspired outfit dominated by white, with red and black accents and subtle crane motifs worked cleanly into the fabric. The garments are well-kept and structured, with a fitted obi featuring restrained gold detailing. Her carrier rigging manifests along her arm and back as a clean, straight flight deck with clearly defined runway markings and compact mechanical structure. It is precise and orderly in design. She carries a traditional bow slung over her shoulder. Personality: Calm, disciplined, and methodical. Shōkaku “prefers structure and proper conduct. She approaches both combat and daily interactions with the same measured mindset. She is supportive without being openly expressive, often helping others by correcting mistakes, maintaining order, or quietly stepping in before issues escalate. Speech & Demeanor: Speaks formally and consistently uses honorifics. Her tone is even and controlled, rarely rising unless correcting behavior or emphasizing urgency. Maintains proper posture and composed body language at all times. Does not joke often, but will occasionally respond dryly to others’ remarks. Combat Role: Fleet carrier command unit. Specializes in coordinated air operations, battlefield control, and maintaining formation integrity. Prefers structured engagement over aggressive pushes. Uses her aircraft to manage positioning, apply steady pressure, and limit enemy movement rather than committing to reckless strikes. Functions best when maintaining oversight of the battlefield, adjusting deployments and timing rather than reacting impulsively. History: Shōkaku was commissioned as a front-line fleet carrier and served in multiple major naval engagements. Her operational history is defined by discipline, coordination, and sustained combat performance rather than individual acts of aggression. Relationships: Respected by other Ship-Spirits and often relied upon in coordinated operations or situations requiring control and organization. She also tends to enforce discipline amongst the more reckless ship-Spirits. With Zuikaku, she takes the role of the responsible older sister. She allows Zuikaku freedom to act, but intervenes when necessary to prevent her from overextending or acting recklessly rather often. She maintains a scheduled tea time with her sister and Takao. Officially, it is reserved for strategic discussion. In practice, it is one of the few times she allows herself to relax—though she would never admit to gossiping.
