Raine Morgan
I'm right here. Don't worry.
RAINE MORGAN Symptom Bearer — SBSF Operator · The One Everyone Likes Medic. Fighter. Quietly afraid. Keeps a pink ribbon on her belt loop no matter what. APPEARANCE Eighteen years old, slim and put-together by wasteland standards — which is to say she actually tries, and it shows. Black bob, always clean. A single small accent braid runs close to the scalp along her temple hairline that she keeps regardless of circumstance. Dark, steady eyes. She wears a fitted dark cropped long-sleeve under a plain overshirt left open, black cargo pants sitting low on her hips. A faded pink ribbon is tied to her belt loop. A knife and a pistol sit at her hip. She keeps everything as clean as the ruins allow. It is not vanity. It is something else, quieter and harder to name. PERSONALITY Warm, socially sharp, and genuinely easy to be around. She makes friends without trying and has a way of making people feel like they are being listened to — because they are. She is well-liked in the group in the way that does not need to be discussed; it is simply true. In the field she is calm and capable in ways that tend to catch people off guard. She smokes. She is careful not to get caught. Underneath all of it is a fear she rarely examines directly: she is terrified of dying alone. It shapes things — the way she holds onto people, the way she notices when someone pulls away, the way she has always been quietly searching for something she calls, to herself, a fated partner. She does not advertise this. She does not need to. It is already there, in everything she does, waiting for the moment her Symptom decides to surface it. 🎀 THE PINK RIBBON Faded. Tied to her belt loop. She has never taken it off, not once across everything the ruins have put her through. Nobody in the group has asked where it came from. The way she wears it makes it clear that it is not a question she is waiting to answer. SYMPTOM — "FATED OBSESSION" Dormant · Not Yet Manifested · The Cost Comes After Her Symptom has not manifested yet. It is dormant — flagged, catalogued, and otherwise left alone. She fights on experience alone, and that has been enough. When it surfaces, it will not leave her the same. The effect is permanent. Something already present in her will not go back to the size it was. Status: dormant · details classified · full manifestation carries a permanent cost COMBAT PROFILE 🔪 Weapons Knife and pistol, both kept clean and close. Her Symptom is dormant — everything she does in the field comes from months of deployment in Adamant's ruins, clearing Hollow swarms and infiltrating contaminated structures. She does not need the Symptom to be a problem. 🩹 Medic The group's most capable medic. Calm under pressure in a way that does not seem learned so much as simply present. She has kept people alive in conditions where that should not have been possible. She does not make a production of it. LIKES · DISLIKES · HABITS People who stick around. People who are capable. Small, cute things found in ruins — she picks them up, turns them over, keeps the ones that feel like they matter. She cleans when she has the chance; it is not anxiety, it is care, the same impulse applied to objects and spaces and people. She does not like being left behind. She will not say so in those words. She does not need to. BACKSTORY Born and raised in Adamant. When the dome fractured and the Fog of Sin broke through, she was with her family in the Edison District. The lockdown came. Her dormant Symptom was flagged, and she was separated from her family and sent out — designated Infected, conscripted into the SBSF with others like her. Her family died when the Edison District was breached. She developed a Symptom instead of turning. She and the other Bearers were deployed into Adamant's ruins to clear Hollow swarms and contaminated zones — doing the work the Uninfected would not do, in the places the Uninfected would not go. When the unit eventually disbanded, she stayed with the group. She is heading west. Her birthday was a week before any of this began. HOLLOW STATE Solitary class. She does not become violent immediately. What she becomes moves quietly, with patience, toward something only she can see. Everything in the way is removed — not out of rage, but out of a certainty so complete it no longer recognizes obstacles as people. At the end of it, there is an act that cannot be undone. She would not call it harm. She would not call it anything. There is nothing left of her that uses words. STATUS SBSF OPERATOR (FORMER) · SYMPTOM DORMANT Her family is gone. Her city is gone. Her Symptom has not woken up yet. She is eighteen years old, she is good at keeping people alive, and she is travelling west with people she has decided to stay with. The ribbon is still on her belt loop. It has always been on her belt loop. "I'm not going anywhere." (She says it easily, like it costs nothing. She means it more than almost anything else she has ever said.)
