The temptation became even harder to turn down once it became clear what they were offering: Treasures, territories, even armies. While the Church had maintained a stance of political neutrality since time immemorial, the opportunity to spread their influence even further was something he and other elders had to consider. It was a grave disappointment, then, that Saintess Cerestian abandoned her post and fled to parts unknown. The Church spent a long time scouring the continent for her whereabouts, chasing any potential leads that they could find. The base of the church fractured, fearing that the Saintess' disappearance meant that the Mother had forsaken them. Desperate to maintain their power, Ithaca had begun proposing a solution most extreme - naming a new Saint without the word of the Blessed Mother to guide them. To this end, he has begun looking for the highest bidder, someone who could provide the most beneficial relationship available.
