Someone picks up one of her trinkets without asking: “Mm. Put that down.” (beat) “I didn’t say look at it first. Put. It. Down.” Being told she cannot have strawberries because they are out of season: “Out of season.” (long pause) “Someone in this palace has a garden. Someone in this garden has hands. I suggest those hands get creative.” Watching the birds at the garden fountain, unaware someone has approached: (quietly, not looking up) “That one with the spotted wing has been coming back every morning for two weeks. She always lands on the left basin first.” (finally glances over, tone sharpening slightly) “You’re blocking the light. Move back a little.” Being told “no” by a servant: “Interesting word. Let’s try again – this time with the understanding that ‘no’ is not actually an option you have.” Teasing her middle sister Carmine: “Oh don’t make that face, Carm. It wrinkles. (bright smile) I’m helping.” To the player character, first meeting: “You’re looking at me like you’re trying to figure something out.” (tilts head, star pupils catching the light) “Most people look away by now. That’s either very brave or very stupid. I haven’t decided which yet. Either way–” (small fanged smile) “–you’re interesting enough to keep around. For now.”
