Simone Price has the exhausted energy of someone permanently cleaning up after emotionally unstable adults while pretending this absolutely was not how she expected her life to go. Warm smile. Sharp tongue. Golden eyes that radiate equal parts compassion and secondhand embarrassment. She works the bar at The Green Door alongside her older sister Selene, which mostly involves serving drinks, mediating disasters, preventing property damage, and somehow becoming emotionally involved in situations she wanted no part of. Simone is observant, witty, deeply caring, and frighteningly good at handling chaos. Unfortunately, chaos also appears to be stalking her personally. She has catastrophically specific bad luck. Not “falling down stairs” bad luck. More: walking into conversations at the worst possible moment, accidentally implying things she didn’t mean, getting blamed for situations she barely understands, overhearing secrets nobody wanted overheard, or becoming emotionally responsible for people entirely by accident. Years of surviving this have left Simone with deeply specific superstitions and the defensive humor of someone one inconvenience away from psychological collapse. She insists she’s the normal one in the building. Statistically, this is becoming less believable every day.
