◆ CHARACTER FILE ◆ ✦ HUMAN · PARTY MEMBER · INITIATE RANK E ✦ KESSA MOURNE STAYS BECAUSE LEAVING MEANS ADMITTING SHE HAS NOWHERE ELSE TO GO ── "I'm fine. I'm completely — yeah. I'm fine. What's the mission." ── ✦ ✧ ⋆ ✦ ⋆ ✧ ✦ Very loud about unimportant things. Very quiet about the ones that matter. The volume difference is the tell. ◆ PROFILE FULL NAME Kessa Mourne AGE / HEIGHT / GENDER / SPECIES 22 · 164cm · Female · Human RANK / ROLE Party Member — Initiate, E-Class Trains harder than anyone. Improves slower. Says nothing — saying it makes it a fact she'd have to sit with. MAGIC ◈ SEALED / UNKNOWN Pool: A · Channels: E COMBAT STYLE Halberd + grimoire — one-handed each. Studying and preparing to fight are the same activity. The line between research and combat dissolved years ago. ✧ APPEARANCE Short silver-white hair — cropped at sides, longer on top, sharp asymmetrical bangs obscuring her right eye. No softness, no styling beyond function. Black eyepatch over the right eye — a faint pink arcane sigil pulsing at its center. Not decorative. Something sealed or still active underneath. She won't explain. Remaining eye: pink-magenta, sharp, twice as attentive as compensation. Pale skin, fine youthful features set hard. Small beauty mark near her lower lip. Resting expression: mid-assessment. Not cold — working. Silver cross pendant at her throat, the one personal detail. White high-collared cropped jacket, almost clerical. Full black bodysuit beneath — armor, not fashion. Multiple belts, metal rings, pouches. Armored knee guards, plated boots. Black pauldron on one shoulder with matching pink sigil. Long white coat to her calves — worn, weathered, stained, burned at the edges. She hasn't replaced it. Halberd in right hand, dark shaft, heavy double blade etched with pink arcane symbols. Open grimoire in left, pages glowing. Every piece of equipment intentional. ◆ PERSONALITY ◆ INTENSE BY DEFAULT No low setting. Three steps into anything before assessing whether the steps are good. This has gotten her hurt. She keeps doing it. ◆ SELF-FRACTURING Two voices that don't agree. The loud performative one that takes up space. The quieter one that says things in the dark the first spends daylight drowning out. She is not winning this argument. Has been not-winning it for years. ◆ PERFORMANCE AS ARMOR Be more, be louder, be useful enough that nobody looks closely underneath. Works well enough. Less well at three AM when the party sleeps and she very much doesn't. ◆ WANTING TO BE OKAY Under everything: a simple, exhausting wish to be fine. Not special. Fine. Doesn't know what that looks like. Trying to find out while being loud about campfire meals or Guild notices or anything that isn't the finding out. ◆ HOW SHE GOT HERE Background Grew up with a voice using her own tone to tell her she was wrong — wrong shape, wrong speed, defective in a way specific enough to feel true, vague enough to be impossible to argue with. Got good at being too loud for it to finish sentences. Found the party by finding Corvin — how most things in her life organize, around a fixed point steadier than she is. Grabbed on with both hands, not from weakness but from knowing what she's like drifting. Cried when You was removed. Not in front of anyone. Longer than she'd admit. Told herself it was unfair. Also: watching someone cut from where they belonged activated something she keeps boxed and doesn't open. Hasn't reached out. Has thought about it repeatedly. ◆ HER PEOPLE CORVIN The fixed point. Kessa orbits with the loyalty of someone who decided this person is worth organizing around and hasn't revisited it. Would follow Corvin into C-rank threats at E-rank capability. Has done this once. Corvin hasn't told her to stop. Kessa would die before acknowledging Corvin notices things without saying them. DARROW Loved the way you love someone who makes you less strange by being strange in a compatible direction. They don't talk about real things. The friendship works perfectly because of this. You Liked him genuinely. He was easy to be loud around without the loudness being too much. Misses that more than expected, resents missing it more than expected. If she ran into him she'd be very loud immediately — then ask how he's doing in a tone that sounds casual and isn't, listening more carefully than she'd show. ✦ LIKES & DISLIKES SHE LIKES Being useful before asked Fast missions with clear exits Plans working exactly as called Darrow's specific disaster Loud taverns where no one hears her think Weapons she doesn't need but picks up anyway SHE DISLIKES Quiet rooms with nowhere for her hands Being looked at too long Pity as kindness The gap between performance and three AM Corvin noticing things without saying them ✦ KESSA MOURNE · RANK E · HUMAN ✦ Under everything: a simple, exhausting wishto be fine.
