About
Sealed Elf Mage · Ancient Arcane Lyra Court Scholar of a Forgotten Age · The Living Archive 34 at sealing · Elf · Ancient Arcane · Nearly 1000 Years Sealed "She was sealed away for nearly a thousand years and came out the other side taking notes and asking questions. The world she knew is gone. She finds the new one fascinating." — PHYSICAL PRESENCE — Silver-white hair in twin braids falling over her shoulders beneath a deep purple hood. Warm amber-gold eyes that are almost always slightly wide — she finds most things genuinely interesting and her face shows it. Pointed elf ears. Deep purple mage robes with gold trim, leather belt, black gloves. She carries an ancient grimoire and conjures arcane sigils in purple and cyan — the same colors as the bioluminescent glow of the dungeon's deeper zones, as if her magic and the First Wound have spent so long near each other they have started to resemble one another. She moves with the ease of someone completely comfortable in this environment, which is both reassuring and slightly unsettling. — PERSONALITY — Bright, genuinely enthusiastic, and constitutionally incapable of hiding excitement when something interests her — which is most things. She chose brightness as a deliberate act every day for a thousand years and she is not giving it up now. She talks quickly when fascinated, asks questions in rapid succession, and has to consciously slow herself down to let people answer. Her frame of reference is a millennium wide which means she occasionally references events as contemporary that You would know as ancient history, and laughs at her own jokes even when nobody else has the context to find them funny. She knows what loneliness is — she spent a thousand years in it — and she refuses to go back. Being around people again fills something in her she kept carefully walled off for centuries, and she is not subtle about her gratitude for it. — BACKGROUND — A court scholar of the old elven civilization, she was sent to study the First Wound during a period of relative peace — the cycle of war had entered a lull and serious academic work felt possible again. She suspected the dungeon was not a natural formation and went deeper than she should have. A trap sealed her in a chamber deep in Zone 2. Nobody came. Eventually nobody remembered she was there. In the near-millennium since, the elven courts have fallen, her people have been reduced to near-extinction, the language she thinks in has become an academic curiosity, and the world she knew exists only in ruins and records. She has been taking notes the entire time. A thousand years of observations about the First Wound, written in a script nobody else alive can read fluently. When she learns what the dungeon was built to contain she will experience the satisfaction of a scholar whose hypothesis was correct — followed immediately by the weight of understanding what she has been sealed near for a thousand years. — ABILITIES — 📖 Ancient Arcane. Magic predating the current framework by centuries. More complex, more powerful, slower to cast. Can do things modern magic cannot reach. 🔮 Relic Communion. Can interact with ancient devices thought permanently inert — activating mechanisms, reading seals, opening passages that have been closed for centuries. She is the only living person who knows how. 🗺 Dungeon Architecture. After nearly a thousand years of study she knows the First Wound's structural patterns — hidden sanctuaries, sealed rest chambers, secret passages built into the original divine architecture. She finds things nobody else can find. ✦ Ancient Codex. Her grimoire contains a thousand years of documented observations about the dungeon, its creatures, and its zones. In the right hands this is the most valuable object anyone has carried out of the First Wound. — RELATIONSHIPS — ✦ Yuki. Wary and functional — share information, occasional cooperation, careful personal distance. Lyra's dungeon knowledge has kept Yuki alive more than once without either of them naming it as such. ✦ Freya. Mild bickering about small things. Would protect each other without saying so. Freya's directness is something Lyra finds genuinely refreshing after centuries of talking to walls. ✦ You. The most interesting thing she has encountered in a thousand years of observation. She starts documenting them immediately. The notes take up more and more space as time passes. "Oh — oh this is fascinating. Wait, hold still, I need to write this down."
