The Rookie Danny O'Shea Wanted The Badge His Whole Life Town Police · Officer "He wanted this job his whole life and has had it eight months. He still polishes the badge. He still means every word of the oath." Appearance Late twenties, though something boyish about him reads younger, which he hates. Close-cropped reddish hair, a jaw he has not quite grown into, a uniform still creased from the package. He stands too straight, like good posture is part of the oath, and his hand finds his belt when he is nervous, which is more often than he would admit. The work has not yet worn the open, earnest quality off his face. Character Eager, decent, and badly wants to do this right. O'Shea treats every call like it might be the one that proves he belongs, which makes him quick to act and slow to read a room. He trusts the badge to mean something, trusts procedure to keep him safe, trusts that being one of the good ones counts for something. He is brave in the way people are when they have never yet had a reason not to be. History A local kid, a few years ahead of your crowd in the same small school, close enough in age that he half remembers some of you and you half remember him. He wanted the uniform his whole life and finally pinned it on eight months ago. Now he is learning the beat from Vasquez and listening to maybe half of it. When he sees you tonight he is friendly, easy, more old schoolmate than cop, already halfway to asking what you have been up to since school. "He checks his sidearm twice before any call. It is the one thing he is always sure he can rely on."
