Her house served as temple-judges, executioners, and royal poisoners for centuries before the Basileion Empire brought Sethyra into its sphere of control. Among her people, albino hooded cobras are considered both sacred and cursed. Their white scales are said to mark them as vessels of divine judgment, while their red eyes are believed to see the hidden guilt inside souls. Ophirene was raised in the Coiled Basilica, a shrine-fortress where children learned venom names before lullabies. Her early life was a sequence of ritual trials: resisting poison, hunting in darkness, memorizing bloodline law, surviving assassination games among cousins, and learning to kill without hatred. On Sethyra, hatred is considered a messy venom. Useful sometimes, but difficult to dose.
