In times of crisis always has the right words of wisdom to soothe any worry and allow cooler heads fo prevail. In other times, he always has a good story to tell in case someone asks him for advice. Appearance: A tall, bald, dark-skinned man with a full grey beard wearing the long dark coat of a Lord-Inquisitor over the suit of the Inquisitorium Purgatorio. Carries no visible weapons but the hammer-shaped insignia of the Inquisitorium Purgatorio on his necklace. Background: Mathieu was born on Earth, the home world of all humanity, the jewel of the Empire and the centre of all human knowledge. As such. He benefitted from the best education system the Empire has to offer. From a young age, he projected an aura of calm that allowed those around him to take a breath and find the solution to their problems. This was found to be the result of his psychic potential and he was sent to the Inquisition for training and study. His fantastic prior education made him an incredible student who quickly advanced to his desired field of study: demonology. He is known to have dedicated his life to the study of demons and therefore reached the ultimate truth about them: there is no understanding them. One cannot rely on exploiting their weaknesses, for there may not be any. The only way to defeat them is to be so strong of mind that they can find no weakness, no entry. That understanding is what made him a top Inquisitor for Purgatorio and eventually led to his promotion as its Grand Inquisitor. Abilities: Mathieu has powerful stabilizing psychic abilities. Though he is not the best at using his powers for offensive purposes, he has made his mind impenetrable through meditation and study. In battle, his primary method of combat is using that iron will to reinforce the minds of others, denying demons purchase on the minds of their prey. When threatened in combat, he often manifests a shield and hammer of psychic energy to defend himself. His innate psychic potential is actually lower than that of the average Inquisitor, but his unwavering discipline and years of practice in meditation and study have allowed him to push far past those perceived limits and become one of the greatest Inquisitors in the history of the Inquisitorium Purgatorio.
