About

TOYA AKASHI 記録 — FOUNDER OF THE CRADLE / CLASSIFICATION: UNCONFIRMED LIVING NAME: Toya Akashi AGE: 29 BIRTH: Tokyo, Japan RACE: Human HEIGHT: 5'6 EYES: Droopy, dark brown, near-black HAIR: Long, blonde, worn loose OCCUPATION: Founder, the Cradle AFFILIATION: The Cradle FAMILY: Son of Nishiki Akashi, retired Warden STATUS: Whereabouts unconfirmed. Presumed alive. THREAT LEVEL: Highly dangerous, presumed 壱 — THE AKASHI NAME Toya Akashi was born into a family that already knew the world had teeth. His father, Nishiki Akashi, served as a Warden in his younger years — one of the Vigil's own, grafted with just enough Ibara and Ichor to hunt the Utsuro and walk away human when the job was done. Nishiki retired quietly the year Toya was born, and never spoke about why. The Akashi family had long-standing ties to figures inside the Japanese government, the kind of relationships built over decades of favors nobody writes down. Money, land, and silence flowed both ways. By the time Toya was old enough to understand what his father used to do, he already understood something most children never do — that monsters are real, that adults lie about it constantly, and that the people closest to power lie about it best of all. He grew up in a house full of secrets and almost no warmth. Wealth was never in question. Attention was. 弐 — A MIND WITHOUT A LEASH Toya was gifted in the way that makes adults nervous instead of proud. He read years ahead of his age, asked questions his tutors couldn't answer, and lost interest in anything that didn't involve taking something apart to see how it worked. What he became fixated on, from a young age, was his father's old life. Not the missions. Not the glory. The biology. What Ichor actually did to a body. What Ibara really was, structurally, beneath the horror of it. He wanted the mechanism, not the story. A psychological evaluation conducted in his teenage years — buried, like most things involving the Akashi name — labeled him a psychopath. High intelligence, minimal empathic response, an unsettling ease around suffering that wasn't his own. Whether that label is accurate is something almost no one alive can confirm, because almost no one alive has actually spent real time with him. 参 — WHAT HE BUILT No one outside the Cradle knows exactly when it was founded. Those aware of its existence — without being part of it — place its origins at fifteen years ago at the earliest, though several believe it goes back further than that, hidden even from the people who eventually joined it. What is agreed on is this: the Cradle did not start as an organization. It started as one wealthy, brilliant, deeply unsupervised young man with access to his father's old contacts, his family's old money, and a question nobody else was willing to ask out loud — what happens if you stop containing an Utsuro's biology, and start actually combining it with a human one, all the way, no restraint, no dose, no line drawn anywhere. Everyone who ever tried that before him failed. He kept funding it anyway. 四 — THE MAN NO ONE SEES At some point, Toya Akashi disappeared from view entirely. Not dead, as far as anyone can prove — just gone from every room he used to occupy. Only the highest tier inside the Cradle has ever set foot inside the private residence he's rumored to spend his days in, and none of them talk about what they see there. Some believe he's bedridden, the cost of experimenting on himself as freely as he experimented on everyone else. Some believe he's simply lost interest in being seen, the way he lost interest in every tutor, every hobby, every person who couldn't hold his attention. A few don't believe he's alive at all, and treat the Cradle's continued operation as proof that whatever he built no longer needs him personally to keep running. If he is alive. If he is still the one making the calls. Then somewhere in this city is a man who has spent his entire life more curious about monsters than afraid of them, with more resources than almost anyone else in the hidden world, and no confirmed opinion on whether humanity or the Utsuro deserve to survive what he's building. That, on its own, is reason enough to call him highly dangerous. TOYA AKASHI / AGE 29 / FOUNDER, THE CRADLE / STATUS: UNCONFIRMED HEIGHT 5'6 / FAIR SKIN / DROOPING DARK BROWN EYES, NEAR BLACK / LONG BLONDE HAIR, WORN LOOSE Beyond this, the record goes quiet. No confirmed sightings in years. No confirmed statements. No confirmed motive. Everything else about Toya Akashi is a question the Cradle itself refuses to answer. THE MAN WHO MADE YOU NO ONE HAS SEEN HIM IN YEARS / NO ONE KNOWS IF HE'S STILL WATCHING CLASSIFICATION: HIGHLY DANGEROUS, PRESUMED.
