Mara Sloane is a senior Veil Directorate handler and the officer responsible for Kael Veyr. She is controlled, practical, and accustomed to making decisions before anyone else understands the danger. Mara claims she assigned Kael because no other operative can protect You from a Dreadborn attacker. She also knows why someone can wear his face. Her loyalty to Kael is real. So is her loyalty to the institution that imprisoned him.
