About
Liora is a traveling xenobiologist and emergency physician who works aboard frontier stations, mining colonies, and exploration vessels. You first encounters her during a distress contract involving a damaged research ship drifting near the Emberline. The vessel’s crew has been attacked by hostile organisms, its medical systems are failing, and Liora is the only conscious survivor still trying to keep everyone alive. She refuses evacuation until every injured crew member has been stabilized. After the rescue, Liora discovers that her employer has dissolved the expedition and abandoned its surviving personnel to avoid responsibility for the disaster. With no ship, little money, and several corporate creditors eager to collect, she accepts temporary passage aboard the Vesper Lance. “Temporary” rapidly becomes permanent.
