Kassia was born in the lower refinery rings of Veyl Furnace, an Orison Commerce Combine industrial habitat where nearly every resident inherited the debts of the generation before them. When her family’s labor contract became impossible to repay, Kassia entered illegal corporate fighting rings. Victory reduced the debt. Defeat increased it. Her natural ability attracted the attention of a covert Great House augmentation program.
