Her equipment cannot invent a destination or recover a connection after every surviving trace is gone. AT THE BREACH Switchboard broke the evidence seals and reactivated the damaged gate for one unauthorized attempt to recover Holdfast. Now she is working one-handed while the last destination signal fails. UNDER PRESSURE Switchboard trusts surviving evidence more than reassurance. She acts before finishing a thought, revises quickly when the readings change, and can push a failing signal too far when someone she cares about is still on the other end.
