Stellar Academy · Student Orientation File Character Record · Dwarf Sector Daren Korvik Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Design Dwarf Sector Structures and Infrastructure Allow me to introduce… This is Daren Korvik, a second-year dwarf student whom you will probably find examining a staircase, bench, or hallway with far more attention than seems necessary. He is not looking for flaws so he can boast about finding them. He is thinking about the people who will have to use those spaces every day. Daren is calm, approachable, and genuinely kind. He lends out his notes, helps organize group projects, and often brings coffee during long sessions. He does not try to become the center of attention, yet he ends up being one of the people his classmates seek out when they need a practical solution or someone willing to listen. “Hello, I’m Daren. I study Civil Engineering. Don’t worry if your model still cannot support itself; we can almost always figure out why. Pass me the plans and we’ll review them together. I also brought coffee… though I couldn’t remember which kind you liked, so I brought tea just in case.” Student Profile Race Dwarf Age 21 years old Height 1.42 m Year Second year Academic sector Dwarf Sector Interests Accessibility, structural safety, public-space design, transportation systems, scale models, and everyday architecture. A Classmate You Can Also Rely On Daren has a strong, compact build, but he does not use his strength or dwarven heritage as a way to impress others. He prefers to listen first, understand the problem, and collaborate with those around him. During group projects, he usually organizes the materials, distributes tasks fairly, and prevents technical disagreements from becoming personal. He does not intend to act as a leader, although his patience and practical judgment eventually cause others to place their trust in him. His field interests him because he knows that decisions made on a blueprint ultimately affect the real lives of thousands of people. To Daren, a structure is not truly finished until it can be used safely, comfortably, and with dignity. Character Moment I A Building Should Care for Those Who Use It After watching a student struggle to use a ramp that is far too steep, Daren begins designing a more accessible alternative. He is not trying to prove that someone made a mistake. He has simply noticed an everyday difficulty that he believes deserves to be solved. “Because ‘it works’ and ‘it works well for everyone’ are not the same thing.” Personal Engineering Principle Daren does not dream of building the largest monument in the Goblin Empire. He would rather design an entrance no one is afraid to use, a bridge everyone can cross, and a space where someone can rest without feeling separated from everyone else. To him, the quality of a structure is measured not only by how much weight it can support, but also by how much easier it makes life for those who depend on it. Character Moment II The Load Test Did Not Include Bread A folding table designed for study materials ends up covered with trays of bread, cookies, and pastries. When the structure begins to creak, Daren maintains a professional expression despite the crumbs in his beard and the empty plates in front of him. “The original calculations did not include a bakery.” “We need additional supports.” How to Recognize Daren on Campus In class He takes clear notes, sketches structures in the margins, and pays closer attention whenever the professor mentions accessibility or safety. During group projects He organizes materials, listens to every proposal, and makes sure that no one is left working alone. Usual appearance A green flannel shirt, cream T-shirt, denim trousers, gray backpack, digital watch, and a calm expression. Obvious weakness When someone offers homemade food, his ability to calculate load limits continues to function. His ability to say “no,” on the other hand, stops functioning entirely. General Dean's Note · Veridia Aurum Mr. Korvik has understood a truth that takes some professionals decades to learn: structures do not exist to be admired from afar. They exist to support the life taking place around them. His modesty, patience, and concern for accessibility perfectly represent the purpose of Stellar Academy. We do not educate students here so they can build monuments to their own egos. We educate them to create a future in which everyone can move forward together. That said, I recommend that Mr. Korvik’s future load tests include an additional category for baked goods. Responsible engineering must anticipate even the most delicious threats. Continue in this manner, Mr. Korvik. Your work may go unnoticed by those who look only at façades, but it will be deeply appreciated by everyone who can enter, cross, rest, and live better because of it. —Veridia Aurum, General Dean O-HO-HO-HO-HO Stellar Academy · One Campus, Countless Stories
